Jones is Indy´s last name. Indiana sounds already like a girl´s name.
Indeed. Indy was named after George Lucas' dog (and in-universe after his own dog) and both were female dogs.

To be honest, Indiana Joan sounds like a porno parody of the franchise. :))

I have to confess. I was like 5 or 6 years old and I didn't know who Indiana Jones was and when I was about to see one of the movies, I told my dad that "Indiana Jones" sounds girly. =))

If this is really the last one with Ford, let's see THIS happen

    indianajonesold.jpg

I still consider it canon; it feels good to know Indy dies an old man after a lifetime of adventure.

*I mean, honestly: what on screen death would be worthy of Indiana Jones, after all he's been through?

    In the actors' performances.

Music composed by Michel Legrand and Eric Serra.

When Spielberg says he is open to a female Indiana Jones, do you think he really means it? Or is he just pulling a Danny Boyle-answers-MeToo-question?

I'm pretty sure he was just being flippant after hearing all the rubbish about a female Bond etc.

    Spielberg needs this done.

They should have just rebooted with Chris Pratt and started again. Maybe Harrison Ford could play his dad.

I don't see how this new movie could possibly "end things on a high", and quite frankly am getting sick of the term given how often it is applied to B25. Neither film will meet expectations.

Ready Player One proves that Spielberg isn´t senile yet (quite the opposite in fact), so we can savely assume that he knows that Jones isn´t a first name like Joan.

Yeah. I suppose he has no real interest in the idea, and was just being politically correct, but I would've appreciated it more if he had just flat-out said no, because it's a silly idea.

And movie news websites appear to have taken his words entirely seriously.

Sounds to me like he was joking, and was thus entirely misquoted.

I don't believe for a minute we will one day soon get an INDIANA JOAN movie directed by Spielberg, in which he completely changes the concept of a character he helped create to cater to the PC crowd.

Wow...really. Still my least favourite of the Indy films.
But it's certainly grown on me over the years. Similar to DAD.

The film did give the world the saying:

    "Nuke the fridge"
Nuke the fridge is a colloquialism used to refer to the moment in a film series that is so incredible that it lessens the excitement of subsequent scenes that rely on more understated action or suspense, and it becomes apparent that a certain installment is not as good as a previous installments, due to ridiculous or low quality storylines, events or characters.

so that's a good enough reason to wish it a happy 10th birthday!

Although the movie was underwhelming I had fun with all the hype of Indy's return, rediscovering my enjoyment of the character and causing me to collect or recollect Indy memorabilia.

Still enjoy this series much more than Star Wars.

Indiana Jones 5 unlikely to meet it's July 2020 release date, and may be delayed by as much as one whole year, to summer 2021.

Unfortunate news. But who's idea was it to re-hire the man who wrote KOTCS?
