How about OO7 IN HELL
There was a time when everyone swore Quantum of Solace would never happen... for that matter there was a time when people thought Casino Royale would never happen and if it did they wouldn’t of used that title due to that stupid 1967 film
So as the old saying goes
Never say never again
...if they ever get around to adapting MR properly. So much fire imagery in that book.
The Belles of Hell could also work as a final Bond title for Craig. But I'd imagine the Christian right wouldn't like the use of "hell," and Eon as usual wouldn't want to alienate any audience members.
Hell, I remember their minor outcry to the lyrics "Dance into the fire" of AVTAK.
I honestly don't expect either to be the case.
Any takers for Nothing Propinks...?
Some of the chapter titles aren't bad at all.
I always loved the titles: THE ELEGANT VENUS and SEASCAPE WITH FIGURES.
I could see SEASCAPE WITH FIGURES being the name of a stolen museum art-piece or something. A MacGuffin Bond must go after.
I used to have all the Fleming Bond novels so I could browse. I only remember a handful of titles off the top of my head.
Driven through that place several times before, actually.
OO7 IN DEVELOPMENT HELL
007 in DEVELOPMENT HELL and FOREVER AND A DELAY are easily as appropriate for the next film as Sean's rogue NEVER SAY NEVER AGAIN.
Cobra
A Killers Kiss
Silversword
I'd bet good money we are getting a faithful MR adaptation for Bond 26 (if CR is any precedent). It would be a more economical story to shoot, and the story would work well for a new actor.
Death to Spies
Smoke & Mirrors
Where Shadows Lie
Love it.
The only Fleming title left that might hint at Craig's last mission is "The Property of A Lady."
If they don't go with one of the three or four Fleming titles left (but is 007 in New York really a Fleming title? Discuss), I wouldn't mind a "The Man..." kind of title.
Maybe "The Man Who Was A Spy"? Something provocative and about Bond himself, and evoking the end of Craig's tenure.
"Once Upon A Spy" was a good idea. Maybe "Once A Spy"? "Once A Spy, Always A Spy"? "Once Bitten, Twice Spy"?
The line between mysterious and cheesy is very thin. See how hard this is? None of us are Fleming.
And yet let's face it, we fans will grow to love whatever title they come up with. The only one in retrospect that I still don't love is Licence To Kill. Just too generic. I also wouldn't like James Bond or 007 for that same reason.
"How To Kill a Dead Man"
"Keep Your Friends Close"
"No Way To Die"
Yes, Licence Revoked would have been much better.
For that matter Tomorrow Never Lies sounded better to me than the typo we ended up with.
There is always the danger of trying to come up with a typical Fleming title and ending with some poor parody.
The best I've seen for a long while was Everything Or Nothing which was tossed away on a bloody game.
I really liked the LICENCE REVOKED title as well as TOMORROW NEVER LIES.
Maybe some day we'll get EVERYTHING OR NOTHING?
THE PROPERTY OF A LADY is still my favorite remaining Fleming title, though I love RISICO, also. I feel THE HILDEBRAND RARITY would have been cool. I think using that Hildebrand as the safe house kind of jinxed it for eventually becoming a film title.
Why? Bond 25 could feature some important item from that place.
“Firestorm” in the vein of “Thunderball”... an evil operation sort of thing...
I’m also partial to “The Man Who Sold the World” the David Bowie song.
Using that title would be a great tribute!
