Cracking film and the Bluray looks amazing!
Shatner is just awesome in this. So many great lines and moments. The Genesis countdown is just riveting. James Horner's score is incredible.
Best Star Trek film bar none.
One of my all time favourites. Even if I watch the first few minutes I then have to watch the whole darn thing.
Incredibly directed by Scorcese, this is a film that moves fast and with Liotta's skilled narration it has a real energy.
Has my all time favourite scene in the "You think I'm funny...?" scene. Brutal performance from Joe Pesci.
Scorsese's choice of music is yet again second to none. The use of 'Bells of St Mary's' for the scene where Tommy blows Stax away is beautifully done.
Best film of the 90's and will always be in my top ten.

One of my favorites and clearly the best of the Star Trek films.
I would have made one little change; at the end, when the Genesis device explodes, for an instant, I would have had Kahn see the Enterprise go to warp; once again, even momentarily, he would have realized that Kirk had won .
I know that years later this general idea was presented to Director Nicholas Meyer and he liked it and didn’t know why it had not occurred to him.
starting off with
National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation
where do I begin with this movie... its ... its..... its just not my thing sorry and the older I get the less I enjoy the Vacation films. I genuinely wonder if I'm the problem as everyone raves about this film and while some of the jokes are funny others just are bland and not funny. I think the real issue if I had to place blame on anything is Chevy Chase his character of Clark Griswald is just well their is a mean ness to the character and comedy that I find annoying. Forcing the whole family to stay in one house for what appears to be a month I get that is what drives the comedy but its also mean. For the things that work I will give the movie a pass but its a weak one at that
Charlie Brown Christmas/Christmastime is here again
I am combining these two into one review.. I love Charlie Brown I love Snoopy and I love these shorts the right amount of heart love and just yeah ... of course its hard to rank them against the full length movies but meh its too good not to and combined they are about an hour so similar length to Batman Gotham Knight...

Ugh look, I’m a big fan of all this political stuff, especially the bush administration, so this was quite satisfying for me to watch and very entertaining. I eat all this kinda stuff up. However it felt a bit episodic almost like a documentary recounting Dick Cheney’s life, rather than a film. This movie is no where near as good as the masterpiece that is W. however it is a lot of fun and I would still reccomend it to someone who isn’t interested in politics.

Also though it is quite biased, and obviously Cheney is not a great guy but some of the stuff in the film I thought was a bit less of “let’s show all this stuff that he did” and it was more like “ look at how bad he is”.
Jules Dassin marvellous crime caper about a group of criminals including Maximillian Schell, Melina Mercouri and the wonderful Peter Ustinov, breaking into a museum in Istanbul to steal a priceless dagger. The robbery itself is really well staged, and anyone who has seen Dassins 'Rififi' will know he can can handle a set piece like that with meticulous detail and suspense!
Shown early this morning on TV, I missed the start but really enjoyed the viewing. I have Rififi on DVD. Its given me a taste to watch it now!
In all honesty it was worse than I imagined. However, I watched it with my seventeen year old son and, once the giggles started, we turned it into a pretty good comedy by calling out predictable lines or describing Henry Cavill's CG'd top lip, or commenting on how Batman quickly became Fatman in many of the obvious re-shot scenes.

Oh I've watched it many times. One of my favourite caper movies! The robbery sequence is legendary, but it's a really good thriller besides this, with great characters!

I saw this film for the first time when I was 14. I loved it and still do. Why? Because the chaos, the delirium, the madness all make sense. One of the best "angry citizen" films I've ever seen!
I'd love to see Godfather II in theaters.

A few quick points
1. People want to throw Snyder under the bus and while he is no Kubrick or Nolan or Spielberg (is he a safe director to put on great director lists sorry for all the movies I watch I am still an action guy at heart so Cannes independent high art passes me by like a bus) but the man is good at one thing and that is finding the right people to fill the right roles again Cavill Affleck Even Amber Heard as Mera and Jason Mamoa as Aquaman were all him and I say if directing doesn’t work out I hope he finds work as a casting director because the guy just is amazing at bringing characters off the page
2. I still find it weird DC is more willing to do their lesser characters justice then their primary ones again I fear Justice League 2 if there is one will focus on Aquaman Wonderwoman Shazam and who knows who else and be really good... I just am shocked at the lack of movement on The Batman and more upset that the faults of the DCEU are placed squarely at Affleck and Cavill and I don’t think they deserve any of the blame I think the suits at WB are to be blamed far more then even Snyder but this isn’t the thread for it
So what did I think without spoiling anything I feel Aquaman is a good film it reminded me of the best parts of ur Star Wars prequels and was just a good origin story that didn’t feel to originy. William Dafoe is fantastic and Amber Heard is so hot
I honestly liked seeing Dafoe play against type he is so villainous yet it’s the villains he is betraying not the good guys I honestly loved that. Also the end battle was way to cgi heavy and I could predict the move that Aquaman would do to defeat ocean master by the mid way mark they pulled a highlander endgame here and I felt it was little heavy handed
Over all as much as Marvel fans wants to say the DCEU is dead it’s not true it’s limping along and movies like Wonderwoman Aquaman and possibly Birds of Prey are gonna keep it from going under any time soon but no DCEU is here to stay for the foreseeable future so Marvel has better get used to it

I had a good time with this film. Nothing out of the ordinary but a very decent actioner with more than adequate performances and it shows where the money went too. This is another bonafide entry in the DC series, which I feel is slowly recovering from all the hatred it has, since its inception, had to deal with.
Nice little bit of trivia:
Christ. For anyone who's thinking along the same lines we were (dumb comedies rarely get amazing reviews anyway, it'll be worth it to see Will Ferrell and John C. Reiley together again) don't do this to yourself. It is that bad. One or two funny bits maybe but for the most part, awful.
The worst thing about this is there's a funny film in there somewhere. Those two are great together, Step Brothers proved that. The cast overall is brilliant actually: Kelly Macdonald, Ralph Fiennes as Moriarty (he gets about two lines though), Rob Brydon. Steve Coogan and Hugh Laurie both pop up for a scene each as well and like everyone else in this film are utterly wasted. If Adam Mckay had done this one it could have been gold.
Instead it's crap from the start but there's a scene very early on that seems to hint at an interesting and funny premise. Moriarty is on trial and Sherlock is meant to present evidence convincting him. Instead he reveals through really flimsy reasoning that I can't quite remember that it's all an incredibly elaborate scheme and that it's a body double, the crowd in the courtroom lap it up and cheer for him as a hero Rob Brydon (the police chief who arrested him) is exasperated by the whole thing, begging Sherlock to put aside his ego and admit he got something right and shouting at the crowd to stop cheering. That could have been funny maybe. Will Ferrell as Sherlock Holmes getting it all wrong, John C. Rieley leading everyone around them in praising him as a hero despite that, and Rob Brydon as the straight man, the put upon policeman trying his best to do his job despite of this. Instead it turns out Sherlock is completely right and the whole film is pretty much a terrible and straightforward parody of the Guy Ritchie films. There's one "twist" but it's so out of left field that it doesn't deserve any credit at all. A shit film that unforgiveably wastes its cast and its premise (Step Brothers meets Sherlock Holmes really could have been great). Stay well clear.
I've been hearing the same things and worse about this one...
And not that they're in the same category as those films, but new 4K restorations of Police Story and Police Story 2 are returning to theaters in 2019, as well.
Thanks, mate. I was still in doubt about seeing the film myself but you have probably saved me some good money. If I ever watch it, it'll have to have come to me for free.
Doubt I'll manage to stay away from this one, but I'll probably just wait for the film to find it's way to streaming services.
