I grew up in the late '80s and early '90s. Lea Thompson, Sharon Stone and dozens of slasher flicks taught me about female anatomy like no biology book would. ^:)^
Are there so many nowadays? From what I've been told scriptwriters are asked to avoid then like the plague: you can't pay good money to a good looking actor and good looking actress and then don't have the characters fall for each other. The audiences would feel cheated.
If it was remotely realistic then their facility would resemble the one at the Olympics.
I believe the much mentioned Paul Verhoeven has plenty of nudity in his latest film ' Benedetta'!

As an American, amen! It felt like to me a while ago the liberals at least were cooler about nudity and felt it empowered women, but now it’s always “no, it’s always about objectifying women!” And of course with conservatism it’s always been the same no no, while exploding heads and war violence are A-okay.
I still need to see this one. If anything, Verhoeven is great at delivering on the nudity front in his films.
I must say I haven't. Bit tired of superhero movies. But I always understood that being geared at younger audiences, the sexual attractions are just seriously toned down, without the characters themselves being platonic.
I agree that the cinematic world has become more puritan.
But hey, it comes in waves. There are times when anything goes, and then there are times when everything has to be tucked away. ;-) An interesting difference, however, is that the younger crowd seems to be more puritanical these days, which is a surprise to me since younger people are also supposed to be more sexually curious, no? ;-)
He finally gets naked then. I'll get a ticket.
Verhoeven gave us Showgirls... with lots and lots and lots of naked ladies. The man is my hero.
Wonderful movie.
Okay, I don't really know if it's a wonderful movie, but there are wonderful things in it.

I agree, but I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't the reason. Of course it depends of the market. The French for instance are far more liberal in that regard than the Americans.
But with times having proceeded, it seems that a tale of a fifteen-year old boy (a minor) being seduced (or vice-versa) by a 22-year old war widow (although this is really only part of the story that makes the movie so enticing) is no longer politically correct, and yes, I acknowledge that it may be a misdemeanor by the woman if it happened now.
But it is still a magnificent movie, at least for nostalgic reasons, and quite frankly, I can't imagine any other fifteen-year old male (when I was that age, and the movie came out) who would really have objected to being "seduced" by a slightly older woman like that, even if she wasn't Jennifer O'Neill. I unfortunately haven't managed to find a similar opportunity until a few years later.
I won't forget to mention that Michel Legrand got an Oscar for his brllliant score for that movie nevertheless.
I'm afraid there is a better thread for this posting but I wrote it as a reaction to the previous postings discussing the handling of "controversial" issues.
There should make a team of supernuns.
