  • We also ahve to factor in movie bullshit. People who don't look into things as deeply as we do generally don't know or care how far things are apart from each other.

At the end of CR, Bond finds White at the Villa Gaeta on Lake Como. In the PTS of QoS we start with a car chase along the north-eastern shore of Lake Garda, a good 200 km by car. The chase continues through the marble quarries of Carrara, around 340 km south of the tunnels on Lake Garda in which the chase started and where Bond loses the driver's side door of his Aston. Bond finally arrives in Siena, another 180 km south of Carrara.
All in all, we're talking roughly 800 km, 550 of which he did without a door and about 340 of those being a full-on shooting car chase (and this is assuming the use of motorways, which seems unlikely for a chase...).

And nobody cares, because it's a cool car chase. And this will be the same. He will get into the boat, there will be a few Earth Porn shots of him sailing in calm carribean water and then he's in Cuba. And that's it.

Doesn't change the fact that he's a badass...

Years ago I tried my hand at writing a Bond script, and I nearly killed myself trying to make every single detail make perfect sense. Eventually I realized that, sometimes, "because it's James Bond and it's awesome" is a perfectly reasonable explanation for something happening onscreen. Probably the case here.

Thanks for these: the second one is interesting as it's from the film and he's in character by the looks of it.

Craig is that rare beast in that he looks better as he gets older. Similar to Cary Grant and George Clooney.

He looks better now than he did in Skyfall and Spectre. The hairstyle certainly helps.

Yes, indeed. He looks his best in NTTD. Not sartorial wise. But looks wise.

It's so exciting to think there's a new Bond on the horizon. It looks fantastic in every aspect, hopefully it's worth the wait

Very rarely a film manages to do some location work that is extremely accurate to the real world (IIRC the route of the boat chase in TWINE is very realistic). But then you basically have the same effect in reverse: Most people don't realize the work that went into it and don't care.
With Bond you always have the added layer that the novels and movies are very much set in "our world" (names of products and places and so on) while being quite fantastical.

Yeah I mean if you applied real world logic to the James Bond series, Bond would've died in Dr. No.

    It's really not! :)

    It's fine though, I don't mind it- it's only a movie.

It’s a lovely spot just behind our house! Also used for Harry Potter and a few of our neighbours work as electricians at Pinewood so have plenty of tales and behind the scenes from the forest with the Land Rovers and the V8 was parked in front of the clearing near the Kings Ride for a few days with DC.
Just in case any movie fans would like to know we currently have Doctor Strange 2 being shot one side and Batman the other!

Still a glorious place for the morning stroll and we loved seeing the footage from the trailer. So cool to know it was done on the doorstep.

Can’t wait for our first Bond film outing with our son and so hoping we get to still get to see in November.

Doesn't get much more monumental than that.

Thanks so much. Definitely has its advantages. It was so frustrating too when they were shooting (literally) over the month last August. We had helicopters, engines and gunfire all through the very warm Friday and Saturday night and a load of press with drones trying to get shots. The security team did brilliantly to keep us all out, sadly!
Life in Ascot is normally hectic with the horse racing through the summer but there were a lot of angry dog walkers last year when they closed the entire forest and Bond came to town.
I used to work in Iver (the village next to Pinewood) and my boss and I were with clients when they had that monumental explosion at the studio last spring. We honestly thought a plane had blown up as it’s very close to Heathrow!
Our neighbours have loads of sneaky behind the scenes pics so will post if we see some good things.
