Possible because he is not avaible any more with working on Meg 2. I think MGM and Warner stil going to try for a release in late 2022 or atleast second/thirth weak of March 2023 (5 years later then movie in 2018).
I'd forgotten there was going to be a sequel. Something else to look forward to!
I completely agree, @Mendes4Lyfe. It could have created an even bigger distinction between the 2018 film and Angie's films, setting up a brand new take on, and indeed a brand new iteration of, Lara Croft. By the end of the film, she has become a true tomb raider, and the sequel could have been the "Dark Knight" of the series-to-be.
I'm marginally more curious about the Uncharted movie, just because I can't quite see where they're going with that.

Yesterday i watched Heatstroke (2013) and mabey there should consider to let Evelyn Purcell direct movie and write movie with Anne Brooksbank and keep script of Misha Green (She was ask to direct and write sequel). Plan 3th movie at same time, mabey then direct by Misha Green.
I couldn't agree more. Alicia was awesome. Not a good decision to recast her at all. Well, maybe she'll appear in one of Bond 7's films as a complex Bond girl.
Same here. Alicia really carried that film. She's extremely good at getting the audience involved, even if the rest of the film isn't that impressive. To quote George in Blackadder:"stupid, stupid, stupid!"
I'll echo this as well. She was brilliant in the role. She gave that character a shot in the arm in the same way that Craig did for Bond in CASINO ROYALE. Only difference was that Craig had talented people around him, both behind the camera (ie. good director and script) and in front (Eva Green, Mads Mikkelsen, Wright, etc.) while Alicia was essentially left standing alone on a tiny island with sharks circling around her. She had no chance, especially with that lousy script which was a horrendous adaptation of the 2013 video game, yet she made the film not only watchable, but somewhat enjoyable.
This is a mistake by whoever is making the decision not to bring back Vikander. They may go on to find someone who can do the part well and make a film that is ultimately the most successful in the franchise thus far (a low bar, to be certain), but it will always remain the case that they left something really special behind that could have been both hugely profitable as well as critically embraced, if they did it right.
If you have an Academy Award winning actress wanting to play your video game character, EMBRACE that and go get her the resources she needs to make a great film. Get her screenwriters that aren't from the usual stable of video game film scribes. Get her quality actors to work with so that she doesn't have to literally drag the entire film on her back across a finish line that's seemingly hundreds of miles away.
Walton Goggins is great in everything he does. He's the best thing about THE HATEFUL EIGHT in my opinion, and I bloody love that film!
I thought the film a major step up from the Angie films, and I actually liked those.
Are you talking about Angelina or Alicia?
Alicia
I see. What I love about her is a) her vulnerability (her pain screams are bone-chilling), and b) her natural charm. Angelina is a movie star, Alicia is an actress. Angelina put that larger-than-life vibe into the character, whereas Alicia went for a more naturalistic approach. I like both incarnations of the character, but I slightly gravitate more towards Alicia's humanity. She's my Craig to Angelina's Brosnan. ;-)
