And announced on the 007 website.
Emmy and Golden Globe winning Scottish actor Brian Cox (currently on screens as Logan Roy in Succession) has been cast as ‘The Controller’, the enigmatic character who controls the fate of the contestants in 007’s Road To A Million.

007’s Road to a Million will see contestants competing in teams of two on a global adventure to win the ultimate prize of up to £1 million. Filmed in iconic Bond locations – from the Scottish Highlands to Venice and Jamaica – this cinematic format will be a test of intelligence, endurance and heroism. In addition to conquering obstacles, the contestants, who will compete in two-person teams, must correctly answer questions hidden in the different locations around the world to advance to the next challenge.

The Controller revels in the increasingly difficult journeys and questions the contestants must overcome. He has millions of pounds to give away, but he doesn’t make it easy. Whilst he lurks in the shadows, he is watching and controlling everything.

Brian Cox said, “I got to see how ordinary people would cope with being on a James Bond adventure. As they travel the world to some of the most iconic Bond locations, it gets more intense and nail-biting. I enjoyed my role as both villain and tormentor, with license to put the hopeful participants through the mangle.”

007’s Road to a Million is a unique collaboration between Amazon Studios, EON Productions, 72 Films and MGM Television. The unscripted series will launch exclusively on Prime Video later this year.

Remember when... he was in the Bourne movies? I remember.

I don't know, my mood about this show has really changed.

As someone who has come around to watch Survivor since this 007 show has been announced, I've gone from angry to curious.

Doesn't it sound a bit like "Amazing Race" with some Bond shoe horned in? I am reserving judgement on this. The question part might be interesting and if Cox is able to either throw up roadblocks or mess with the teams in some way that might add some interest.

Indeed it does. Never thought I’d say this, but I think I’ll give it a chance.
  • It may be awhile before some official 007 film news, so this and 007 Cypher game are good to tide us over!

I can't wait for the LALD episode where they put the contestants into South Harlem.

Posted it in another thread, but that looks WAY better than I imagined. I haven't really followed this and am positively surprised how Bondian the challenges look. I'd assumed they'd go to a couple of random Bond locations and do very standard adventure reality TV show stuff there. But this looks like they put a proper thought into making those things quite close to actual Bond moments.
I may have to renew my Prime subscription after all...

Yeah it looks like it's shot really well, and they've put a lovely movie grade on the image too. Some of it looks straight out of NTTD and Spectre.
At the very least, I guess we'll be getting a nice lush Bond score for this, and then lots of people will clamour for whoever the composer is to do the next Bond film! :)

Looks like that's - once again - not in Germany...

Canada only has 16 of the 25 on Prime. Weird, looks like most of the Connery ones, both Dalton's, OHMSS, a few of the Moore ones and all of the Brosnan ones. Craig has all his on there.

Ok, it's really weird how different this is across countries. In Germany, I only find Skyfall out of the Craigs. TWINE and DAD, but no GE or TND. TLD, but no LTK. All of the Moores and OHMSS, but only DN, TB and FRWL from Connery.

So it's a fully British show? I thought it would be pitched a bit more internationally.

I like the quote from Brian Cox there, which he absolutely definitely did say himself and wasn't written by a press manager at all, no way :)

    Those short bios are wild.
"Jen joined the RAF reserves and trained to go to Afghanistan to assist with Aeromedical evacuation and has recently been working in Guyana, providing medical care to crews working offshore on drill ships."
"Sam has been working as a bar tender in a tapas restaurant, where he hopes to learn Spanish."
I know who I am putting my money on :))

I think this is a slightly different trailer. The Moonraker cable car bit looks horrendous! :)

I see it's on the front page of the Radio Times this week.

Not a huge amount of info in the article: Gregg Wilson says how the contestants won't be meeting any fictional characters from the films, although there is mention that a croupier in a casino sequence is played by an actor who took part in the poker game in CR so I guess there may be some familiar faces here and there - and there's also someone there with an iguana on their shoulder, so it sounds like there are plenty of nods to the films in there too.

    Here's that trailer from above:

Let's say, hypothetically, I know someone who has been invited to a preview event for this show in early November, where they will potentially meet a very high-ranking producer in the Bond franchise, and a very notable Hollywood stunt/sfx coordinator for a roundtable. If anybody theoretically had any questions for that sort of situation, you could let me know and I will consider forwarding them on if it's appropriate.
