    French producer and distributor of movies on DVD rené Chateau has passed away, aged 84. Among his notable accomplishments, he was the man behind some of Jean-Paul Belmondo's movies, made the French discover Bruce Lee, and in more recent years, put on video (first on VHS and then on DVD) lots of french movies from the thirties to the fifties.

    RIP John Savident. Most known for Fred Elliot ("I say, I say, where's our Ashley?"), but he also appeared in, amongst many other things, a few episodes of Yes Minister, as Jumbo.

    I only ever really knew him from his lovable appearances in Curb over the past many years, but that led me to branch out to his stand-up which was also a treat. He seemed like one of those comics that everyone loved.

    Almost two weeks late, but I thought Bobbie Wygant deserved a mention here. She interviewed countless Hollywood stars in her 70 years in TV, including all of the Bonds apart from Lazenby, along with other actors from the series. An intelligent and classy interviewer, an increasing rarity nowadays. Rest in peace.

    Bobbie Wygant died?! Damn. I love her YouTube channel. Those interviews are like traveling back in time. I enjoy hearing the thoughts of all those actors and filmmakers on films that, while studio-made pictures, are a bit obscure these days. Good questions for the most part, which led the interviewees to provide some interesting insights. Also, she had a way of conducting the interviews that was polite and relaxing, but engaging. Her channel is a great little treasure trove of film history. May she rest in peace.

    News reaches us of the loss to cancer of Dave Myers,one half of The Hairy Bikers at the age of just sixty six ,he'd been unwell for a couple of years ,but had been thought to be getting better and had returned to making the series,a sad loss indeed RIP Dave ride carefully on your next journey.

    White Christmas is one of my favourite musicals (and Christmas movies). So, it's with great sadness that I've learned of the death of Anne Whitfield, who played the General's grand daughter in this movie :

    And while doing some research on the 1980 mini-series Shogun, I've learned that japanese actress Yoko Shimada, wh played Lady Mariko opposite Richard Chamberlain, had in fact passed away in july 2022, due to cancer, aged 69 :
