I take it next year will prioritize the Othello movie with Craig and now this. If we get any news, I won't expect it before the waning months of 2025, and even then, that'd be a major surprise at this rate.

Yeah, I wouldn't expect much actual solid news in 2025. Just lots of speculation. The CCBB remake is likely to appease Amazon in much the same way as 007 Road to a Million was.

Bond will be released before this.

Don't be so sure. Eon and Amazon are in no rush.

That's very interesting, and slightly surprising news!
The positive is it means that Eon and the new MGM are definitely working together and making new films, which is good news for 007.

As far as Bond is concerned this is more like anti-news, but I'll take it. All this tells us, as much as we already suspected, is that EON are not going to move on the next Bond film for a while.

Still, it's an update of sorts, so I take it. :)

You do realize that if they start this tomorrow (and they aren’t), it won’t hit cinemas for another four’ish years, right?

Bond will be released before this.

    Nice to see you, Peter!

I mean couldn't they just produce multiple movies at once?

I can actually see them announcing a new Bond on the 20th anniversary Craig was announced as Bond with Bond 26 in 2026.

If that’s what you’ve heard. But since February of last year, I’ve been hearing 2027. That hasn’t changed.

But I’m in no rush either, so it’s no skin off my teeth (I really must get to the dentist!).

Thank you @mtm ! When I heard the news of CCBB, I had to check out the reactions…. 😂 .

Unfortunately checking out for a bit again. Miss your posts!!

I'd say three years from now we'll actually get OTHELLO. Then it will take another three years for the Chitty Chitty Bang Bang remake. Finally another three years for B26. So Bond should be back roughly nine years from now........making it a 12 year gap altogether.

Maybe CCBB will be refashioned as a Bond origin story.

    A 12 year gap? :))

If so, EON should just say so. IIRC, Toho did something like this after 2004's GODZILLA:FINAL WARS, when they announced that they were giving the character a "rest" and that fans shouldn't expect a new movie for another ten years.

In the case of Bond, however, I'm still holding out for 2027.

That's interesting. We could have the flying DB5 from JBjr. Would work good as a Q story.

Ironically, Q (Desmond Llewelyn) plays a character similar to Q in CCBB.

We're 3 years and 2 months from the last films release. You're saying that in the next 2 years and 10/11 months we're going to get a new Bond, new script and finished film when as far as we know EON are still in no hurry? I can't see them going into overdrive to meet a deadline (2027) is not that far away) personally.

I think if things that kicking off next year, as we expect it should, then 2027 looks it.

Then we can only assume EON finally has their ducks in a row and Micky G has come to a decision on whether he is staying on for the next era, because these movies are mammoth projects to bring to life, and they can't afford to mess this one up.

At the end of the day it’s always worth saying we really don’t know anything. Most predictions any of us make (including me) will be wrong in practice simply because we’re not privy to what’s going on behind those doors. None of us can say how organised EON are, how engaged, nor what their ideas or plans are ant this stage. Even if tomorrow we got a release date for late 2027 that timeframe could shift (Bond films have been delayed before - including CR which was pushed back a year).

Personally, I think it’s a good thing EON seem up and running even with other projects. But with regards to Bond I’ll wait until something official is announced.

Exactly, predictions aren't bad. The only time it's deemed problematic, is when one begins to hold on to them vehemently, to be point of being delusional.

A new CCBB seems well-suited for the CGI treatment.

So is Chitty Chitty the second of the two projects Ashok Amritraj said he was working on with EON /MGM? Or is there something else we don't know about?

As far as which comes first CCBB or Bond 26, we'll know soon enough because BOTH can't stay in limbo for long.

I still choose to believe its CCBB first, Bond 26 second, because wouldn't EON want its sole focus purely on Bond 26 if that was going to be the next film out the gates?

It is disheartening to realize that the wait for the next incarnation of Bond will be a long one.

Having been to Jane's house, I'm sure it was very hard for her to leave it behind. As I said earlier EON is in no rush to get back to Bond. Othello and CCBB are going to scratch their creative itch for a while.

We probably won't get another Bond film until we know the Democrat and Republican nominees in 2028.

Maybe they should just end the series with No Time To Die

Nothing to do with politics, but I agree.; those nominees will be chosen in roughly three and a half years. At this point it’s reasonable to expect that there won’t be any real movement on the next incarnation of Bond for that amount of time.

    Hopefully it won’t be longer!
