It goes well with cheese too, when one is hungover and can't have wine. Or pizza, or Chinese dishes, or pretty much any holiday food. I mean the things you have during the Christmas holidays, in the days leading to the 25, or between the 25 and new year.
Oh and I try to have Christmas tea, if I can find a good one. I think M&S used to make one?
There's plenty of Christmas and winter beers one can find as well. I used to try loads, back when I lived in Montreal.

My issue with many Christmas beers now is that they often tend to be high in alcohol. I uses to love it when I was younger, but I'm no longer a fan.

If you want a superb alternative to Champagne, just to mix things up or to surprise your relatives with something similar but different, may I suggest a bottle of Franciacorta. Slightly less expensive, just as good or maybe even better.
Known as the Champagne of Italy, which is not the better-known Prosecco like it is commonly believed, Franciacorta is produced in a much smaller area as its French counterpart and it even has stricter quality rules than Champagne. Doesn't have the same level of marketing though :p

Blessedly, I have a corner store near my house that stocks cases of it on the regular, so I'm picking it up from there a lot.
I still need to get my two litres of Coke for the holidays. With crisps. I'm slowly but surely stocking on food and drinks.
On a side note, should I start a new thread about Christmas food or simply update this one? Unless there's an existing thread already.
I usually have to get it from specialist sweet shops here that sell American imported cans of Coke Vanilla. It did used to be available to buy from ordinary grocery shops but it hasn't been available there in a long while now.

They have Coke Vanilla everywhere here. Including our local sweet shop, which also has root beer. But there's no way in hell I'll drink root beer during Christmastime. When I go to celebrate Christmas with my parents, there's always a small glass bottle of Coke in the Christmas stockings. One for each child, grandchild and daughters in law. My son doesn't drink Coke neither does my wife, so I have three for myself.
My wife likes eggnog. I never managed to get into it.
Looks like something my wife would love. Too sweet and pink for me, although if I was to make it for her I would probably end up drinking most of it. She doesn't drink much and quickly gets bored with alcohol.

I have two weeks of holidays. I'll do some wrapping tonight, if I'm not too exhausted. I'll start with the drinking tomorrow.
I did all my Christmas gifts/wrapping 3 weeks ago, maybe I cheat but I like to get all that out of the way quickly.
Years ago I left everything to the last minute, the stress made me start pre planning for Christmas.

Otherwise, anybody has other drink suggestions? I'm having Rebellion Beers' Humbug tonight. Wychwood Brewery also has a seasonal Bah Humbug, which tasted nice, albeit a bit too much like cinnamon.
