Barry was at his peak with YOLT-OHMSS-DAF. I can't name a composer who did three better, and quite different, scores than these.
I did the same with the Arnold releases but I did catch the DAD release for a good price new recently and will eventually get the TND, but the TWINE I'm not concerned about unless I can get it for a good price. Some of the others are a different case.
I like that they present the scores in order of appearance in the film and adding the original soundtrack and that's what's helped these become must-buys for me. I even got the updated Goldfinger soundtrack. So I don't mind paying for these as they are among the more worthy collectibles for me.
In other news, my CDs arrived from the 007 Store this afternoon, so I look forward to listening over the weekend :)
You drop what you're doing and listen to that score, boy!
Nice post. Here's your prize.
1. Tanker Downhill" & Truck Chase
2. Ocean Exotica Break-In & "You Earned it
That would be awesome, thank you
To give La-La Land Records the benefit of the doubt, it's possible the release date was intended for 2024 but was delayed until 2025?
Thanks for that information. Ideally LTK soundtrack could have been released in summer 2024 to coincide with the summer 89 release of LTK. That would have made it the 35th anniversary. It's not a big deal though. I was just wondering "I'm sure 2024 is the 35th anniversary so why it is released in 2025?" ;)) I didn't even think about it until a day or so ago!
Anyway I had a good laugh listening to one trashy song.
“DIRRRTY LOVE!”
Perfect song for that bar scene.
Track 6 is the 7" edit of the title song and the version played on radio stations at the time. It doesn't actually match the version played in the opening titles of the movie - I'm working on an edit of that and will share in the 'Lost but now found' thread when it's ready. The extended version is more familiar as it's on the original OST and on all the Bond theme song compilation albums.
A few people have raised this on another forum and producer Neil Bulk simply said, "The cues are edited together as heard in the film." It's a bit like on the TWINE soundtrack where 'Show Me The Money' and 'Come In 007, Your Time Is Up' follow seamlessly from one another.
Licence To Kill was originally intended to be a Black Friday release, announced in November last year, but it was held back. You could technically argue that this release is still in the movie's 35th year (LTK was released in June '89 so it's 35 until June '25!).
Yes, thanks for the clarification. I'm guessing Octopussy was intended to be released in 2023 but put back to early 2024.
Personally, I wouldn't mind if The Spy Who Loved Me expanded edition - if planned for release - is before 2027 or early 2028! LLLR could forgo the 'anniversary' title and release it before those dates.
I'm also enjoying hearing parts of tracks I never even noticed before because of how they were mixed in the film, like "Ocean Exotica Break-In", with the rain-stick (?) simulating the maggots (?!), or that nice piano on "Enter Lupe". Michael Kamen definitely had an eclectic way of blending instrumentation to create some unusual textures.
He was also at the helm of Metallica's first "S&M" concert, which I still keep in heavy rotation.
I haven't got my copy from la la yet, soon i hope i,think it's in french customs at the moment, but here's a wild thought we know from the kamen cue listing's there were two wedding march recordings for the scene the wagner one presented on album and film and the mendleson version might that version begin with the organ intro you describe and they did a mash up of the two for the film (assuming public domain copywrites would not be infringed).
