The theories of Bond films! Why does Blofeld think the only agent to carry a Walther is Bond?

Yeah it was all Maybelle's idea.

Buy the church raffle ticket for a trip to Asia, she said. Take a chance, she said. See the world, she said. Get away from the motorboat-gate incident, she said. Forget your troubles for a while, she said.

The truth is, Maybelle was a controlling, manipulating monster hell-bent on turning both of them into Republicans, and the wooden carving was the final straw. Jay Dubya knew there was only one place he could be safe from her and her evil Republican ways, and went about landing himself in jail. Being in his position, he knew the Thai penalty system was harsh on GTA crimes and thus could be assured a life sentence there.

And what better way to go out than behind the wheel of a V8? After spotting Eleanor in a showroom downtown, the plan was to launch said ve-hicle through the shop window, and lead the po-lice on a wild chase through the streets of Bangkok. Once arrested, he would pretend to protest the decision and use racial slurs just to ensure he didn't get off lightly. Ten fingers on the ink pad, bwoy.

I don't see the issue. It's like eating at McDonald's in Paris.

It's something this character would do.

I don't know about the Peppers being in Thailand, but visiting a car dealership seems like something a guy like that would do because it's one of the only things he can relate to in a foreign culture where people are trying to sell the tourists junk. Maybe the biggest reason to go in: It's an American Motors dealership, something J.W. can relate to even more.

That sounds like a joke where the ticket buyer is ultimately conscripted and sent to Vietnam, while the war still lasted...

Well the war was still going on, so J.W. got off easy I guess.

As always some wonderful thoughts here about something that was likely done to bring back a beloved character, or a character that audiences enjoyed seeing.

There is a small comment in YOLT that has always bothered me, actually now that I think about it there are two small comments in YOLT that bother me.

    Lets tackle this one first...

Osato and Brandt are summoned to Blofeld. He holds up the x-ray and Osato boastfully remarks that it is a Walther PPK. Blofeld then states "Only one man we know carries a Walther PPK. James Bond."

After Osato throws Brandt under the bus he is charged with killing Bond NOW!!!

What's your theory on why Blofeld says only Bond carries a Walther PPK?
My question is, why does Blofeld say only one man they know carries a Walther PPK? Isn't the Walther standard issue for mi6 at the time? Wouldn't any British agent be carrying the same gun? Or does Bond get a special gun that no others get? Or is Bond the only agent that SPECTRE has had to deal with?

As Fiona would say...questions, questions questions! Who has got answers?

To those who would like a refresher on the scene in question:

Only three people he knows use such a gun, and he has killed two of them.

    Somehow this makes perfect sense.

I’ll admit my almost total ignorance about guns here, but from what I understand the PPK is such a standard issue gun for army and even certain police officers that something about a high ranking secret agent using a weapon is oddly kinda noteworthy (ie. You’d expect them to use something much more obscure).

On the handgun, only Bond was issued the Walther PPK (or PPK/S), as his standard issue.

All others received the larger Walther PP.

So the rest of the agents had bigger PPs. And yes I'm making this up.
