Heat is one of the best films I've ever seen (a gazillion times I might add!). Michael Mann happens to be a filmmaker I greatly respect. In the 80s, I could have seen him do a Bond film. LTK would be an obvious choice.

@DarthDimi, the diner scene between Pacino and De Niro is still my favourite dialogue exchange ever.

'Heat' is such a fantastic movie. Great finale, THE best bank robbery scene I've ever witnessed in a film, terrific cast, and excellent action and drama. I need to watch it again soon.

Fantastic. Great review, agreed with every word. To this day I do not know how the cinematography did not win any major awards.

I wrote a review a while back too, if you'd like to have a read.

    Top ten.

1 is Heat. The others are not in order.

    Léon
    The Dark Knight
    From Russia With Love
    Skyfall
    True Romance
    Reservoir Dogs
    Taxi Driver
    Godfather
    Godfather II

After years of doubting, changing, etc... this is now my all time top 10.

    Heat
    Léon
    True Romance
    Reservoir Dogs
    Taxi Driver
    From Russia With Love
    Kill Bill Volume 2
    Godfather II
    Godfather
    The Dark Knight

    And this IS in order.

    - I still LOVE Skyfall, I just think FRWL is still the ultimate Bondfilm
    - KB V2 was in my top ten a while ago too, so I must really like it lol.

I'm glad you enjoyed Looper like I did! Great performances & One of the best films of 2012. Looper tends to be overlooked, because a lot of moviegoers never mentioned Looper as their favorite film of 2012.
  • I guess I can throw together a top 5 list.

    1. Pulp Fiction
    2. Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring.
    3. Casino Royale (06)
    4. The Usual Suspects
    5. Toy Story 2

Quite a diverse list, I know.

@ElliotCarver, I've been meaning to see 'The Usual Suspects,' but I haven't gotten around to it. I keep watching the hilarious lineup scene, though.

The Usual Suspects is a hell of a head twister. Go into it blind, it's best that way. I held off watching it because my best friend wanted to watch it with me as I tried to wrap my head around the mystery, which he enjoyed greatly.
  • I'll do an alternative list and that can be enough for this night. In no order -

    #1 Scarface (1983)
#2 Bad Day At Black Rock (1955)
    #3 Badlands (1972)
    #4 The Maltese Falcon (1942)
    #5 Severance (2006)

All very good movie titles, but I'd approach the latter with caution. Not for everybody

    Goodnight I-)
  • In no particular order, Back To The Future, Die Hard, Goodfellas, The Godfather, and Titanic.

If I could do a top ten, I'd also include Groundhog Day, The Godfather: Part II, Forrest Gump, Terminator 2, and Scarface.
