    Chinatown is in my top five, too. I feel that its underrated now: it got critical acclaim and everyone I know who's seen it has called it one of the best movies of all time, but its kind of been forgotten over time, hasn't it?
    Also, even though it's not currently my #1 Bond film, as a quality piece of cinema Casino Royale is the only Bond film that I believe is in my top twenty. From an objective viewpoint, it's head and shoulders above the other Bond films in that regard. Bond films aren't like other films: CR is the exception.
    And how can I forget Traffic, rounding off my top three.
    Also, I would imagine Kubrick and Kurosawa have at least three films apiece in my top twenty.
    I have been meaning to get into Kurosawa.

    The Wolf Man (1941)

    I am listing films that I never get tired of watching and can watch them over and over again. The Wolf Man scared the shytt out of me when I saw it on "Shock Theater" back in grade school. I purchased the VHS back in the Nineties and enjoy it now.

    What a tough list. I am not going to put them in order, but here is a preliminary list of my five all time favorites....

    - Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981)
    - Casino Royale (2006)
    - The Empire Strikes Back (1980)
    - Jurassic Park (1993)
    - The Artist (2011)

    Reading over that list, it is quite obvious to see which film does not belong. ;)

    Great picks, @Sammm04! Apocalypse Now is one of the few films I could literally classify as near perfection. What a masterpiece, both in onscreen content and in the story behind its filming. It just goes to show you that sometimes reality can be stranger than fiction.

    In terms of sci-fi, 'The Thing' is always going to be my number one. It's such a fantastic film.

    Without a doubt, my favorite is Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, followed by Jeremiah Johnson, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, The Hunt for Red October, and Casablanca.

    Ahh, yes, 'Blood Diamond' is an excellent film. I know a lot of people trashed Dicaprio for his accent, but I loved the film.

    @StirredNotShaken I agree regarding Chinatown loved this film for twenty years. Bought it on Bluray last year and the cinematography is astounding. Any one who loves cinema should watch this film.

    @WillyGalore, great list. 'Alien' and 'Aliens' stand as some of my favorite sci-fi films of all time, and 'Die Hard' is the greatest Christmas movie ever.

    Have to agree with Die Hard being the best Christmas movie ever. 'let it snow, let it snow, let it snow'. What has happened to Bruce Willis last half a dozen or so movies i have watched him in he really is not trying on any level.

    Yup. I make a point of watching Die Hard once a year, on Christmas Eve before I go to bed :)

    the first movie of the Lethal weapon series was very much a christmas movie as well.

    Opening scene with Jingle Bell Jingle Bell Jingle Bell Rock playing quite a impactfull scene, to a superb film.

    Was pretty dreadful in Die Hard 5 and Looper just appalling for me. Cameo in G.I. Joe ok not expecting much was pretty much Phoned in. Think since Surrogates he has just been collecting a pay check. Maybe not enough challenging roles? When you look at Die Hard and Twelve Monkeys he is capable of more.

    You are probably right, cinema has changed dramatically. He is paying his mortgage attaching himself to random action movies, though getting the pay check none the less. Only a independent movie is likely to give him a role of any critical acclaim.
