I like the Wimbledon setting (it's clearly an international event). There they could introduce the villains a la AVTAK.

The problem with the Wimbledon setting is that after Bond gets his man, it so hard to resist:
"game, set and match" as a one liner

Craig's 5th would surely have to be about his demise. Have Bond killed at the end, YOLT style, with a bodybag shot out to sea in a torpedo & cue the end credits - only to reveal DC's successor when the bag is unzipped after being brought aboard a Royal Navy sub in the PTS of Bond26. Fits in seamlessly with 007 needing to 'die' in order to track down ESB, as we are going down that route anyway.

A bit 'Dr Who', but it could work...

    Christ, that would be awful.

I could see Bond scoping out the villains on centre court alongside Tanner, with whom he then goes and gets rat arsed in Blades.

Best idea I have heard yet from Entertainment weekly.

Madeline gets captured. Bond gets captured, too, but that doesn’t last: Twice in the last half-hour of Spectre, Bond just frees himself using the power of human strength. He walks into the ruined MI6 building, sees posters of all his dead enemies, his dead lover, his dead mother figure. He finds Blofeld, his left eye scarred. (This is meant to be a reference to Blofeld in You Only Live Twice, but for this Bond, it feels more like a callback to Le Chiffre, whose scarred right eye cried blood.) Blofeld tells Bond that a bomb will destroy the building, and Madeleine is somewhere inside. He has three minutes.

And then Bond runs through the building. Webster’s defines a building as: “a structure (such as a house, hospital, school, etc.) with a roof and walls that is used as a place for people to live, work, do activities, store things, etc.” The MI6 building is a very large building, with multiple floors. Bond runs upstairs several flights, takes a second to look at Bloeld’s helicopter, and then just finds Madeleine. They escape on a boat as the building explodes.

Then he shoots Blofeld’s helicopter down with a pistol.

Then he finds Blofeld on a bridge. M watches from one side of the bridge; Madeleine watches from the other side. Bond doesn’t kill Blofeld. He goes away with Madeleine. And then — the next day, two days later, a week later, a month — he goes back to Q branch and asks his old pal if he can borrow the car. And then he goes away with Madeleine, again.

Here’s question: Why is any of this happening?

Here’s an answer: It’s all in Bond’s head. Because he is dying on Blofeld’s operating table.

Roll with me on this for a second. When Blofeld is torturing Bond, he mentions an earlier part of the movie, when Hinx killed a man like the Mountain killed the Red Viper. He talks about the moment before the man died, when he was still breathing — but he was also not there anymore.

So then Blofeld starts digging his little contraption into Bond’s head. I guess maybe he’s just touching nerve endings, maybe? That’s not what it looks like, and it’s also not what Blofeld’s stated purpose is. And is it just a coincidence that — right as the torture is at its most extreme — Madeleine suddenly tells Bond that she loves him? Just a coincidence that, right after that happens, Bond executes an escape that requires logical leaps totally absent from the past few movies: a talking killer who doesn’t notice his prisoner escaping from poorly tied wrist-straps, a top-secret facility rigged to explode in one big chain reaction?

And is it just a coincidence that, after that incredible escape, Bond gets to live through a dream of constant catharsis that no other movie ever gave him: a damsel in distress, some pals who can help a friend in need, a damn helicopter-destroying pistol? This is the first time in any of Daniel Craig’s movies that he gets the girl. And not just any girl. Madeleine Swann feels constructed as a perfect echo of Casino Royale’s Vesper Lynd — this time, with a happier ending. Bond learned Vesper was a traitor in Venice, when she met with Mister White. In Spectre, Mister White offers Bond his daughter as a deeply twisted penance. (Bond makes love to Madeleine for the first time on a train; in Casino Royale, he meets Vesper on a train.)

Perhaps the lazer in Goldfinger went higher than we saw and the intense pain made Bond hallucinate and every movie since has been in his head!
Anyone remember Bobby Euwing coming back in Dallas? a laughing stock.
But your summary of the last half movie does show how weak the structure of SP is IMHO

PatB not mine above is taken from an article in Entertainment Weekly.

Bond for Bond 25 to open to Bond waking up still in Blofelds custody , and it having been Bonds mind playing out the end game in Spectre it would make sense. It is an interesting angle to explore. It would also explain

How Bond and Madeleine getting from Tangier to London in a helicopter.
The love you moment, Bond mind gripping on to Vesper telling him the same as the memory of Vesper leaves his mind.

The pictures of Faces inside MI6, his mind visualising the face of those he is about to loose from his memory.

His mind is also playing on his training and survival instincts The Tangier Explosion the same way he escaped the desert in QOS.

MI6 blowing up is a metaphor in his mind for them attempting to get rid of "00" section.
Shooting down a Helicopter as the event of Skyfall begin to slip his mind.

The bridge ending metaphor M represents his current life on one side of the bridge, love and freedom on the other which direction does he choose? plays on his mind set in Casino Royale when he made the mistake before by chosing the women.

These are only the ones off the top of my head.

I think Madeleine has also gone through the same treatment before Blofeld "I remember when you were a child" Swann: "I don't remember you" Blofeld "Oh, but I remember you".

Then there is White, how did he become such a wreck, did he get the treatment as well?

We could be going down the sleeper cell route.

RC7 is that view based on the concept or that you don't think writers are clever enough? care to elaborate? :D

Firstly, Sir Hillary's wife has done our work for us, (we either dump MS or use her character as the pivot to get out of the narrative mess than Bond is in)

secondly, dream scenes?? no way, sorry, any sense of realism goes out of the window, I will put my entire Bond DVD collection in the blender if we start getting dream scenes in Bond movies
PS I forget the fantasy dream sequence when MP snogged Bond, thats proof of how badly these things work on the big screen

Conceptually it's straight out of a TV series. It would take some serious narrative gymnastics to satisfy this as an idea while building in a decent jumping off point to kickstart B25. While people may not be happy with the third act of SP, I would suggest biting the bullet and welcoming a forward looking adventure for the next installment. It's not a clever idea, it's pretty route one.

There's too much personal for Madeleine not to be part of B25. She's Mr White daughter (lieutenant to Blofeld) and Bond's lady. Yes, it will either start with her being killed or kidnapped then killed once Blofeld escape. And he will.

I agree Bond must be made to regret not shooting him on the bridge.

Bond taking out ISIS or Al- Qaeda would be welcome but highly unlikely to be used!

    Agreed.

The "it was all a bad dream" way of masking scripting lack of foresight just wouldn't work. It's contrived and, frankly, it's the last refuge of a desperate scriptwriter. Just look at the flack the Dallas producers received at the hands of the media and fans alike when they used this device to bring back Bobby Ewing.

If Bond 25 begins with this premise, then I, for one, will hang up my Bond movie hat for good because it will be concrete proof that the barrel is being scraped.

Very unlikely, because that isn't right up to Bond's alley. There's Strike Back for that.

    Thallium poisoning.

I do hope we are going down the YOLT novel route (minus Bond's Japanese disguise). Craig's Bond works best with a bittersweet ending. Just saying.

If it is used, it will probably be allegorical, in much the same way that Fleming used allegory to convey fears of the day, such as fear of corporate globalisation (SPECTRE), Soviet Cold War offensive (SMERSH), big-time crime (Goldfinger), nuclear terrorism (Thunderball), and so on. If ISIS are portrayed, it is likely to be a fictitious state not called ISIS with loyalty to something else other than Islam. It could be said that SPECTRE is an analogue for Al-Qaeda in that it is an internationally operating terrorist organisation.

If they bring back the cast of SP and sit MP and M behind a desk and let Bond go to work against Blofeld, I will be thrilled. Agree with @Stamper on the need to for Swann to come back in force, but I don't want to see her die (at least not early in the film). Hopefully, we discover that SPECTRE isn't just about one man but instead is a true global menace. Starting to tire on how personal the Craig film plots are. The movies revolve around Bond and the people he loves. After Craig, it's time to start moving back in the traditional direction. The stories should be about the enemy plot against the world - and Bond's attempt to stop it.

Bond and Madeleine are on a deserted beach in southern France at dusk. Clearly in love and enjoying their time together. They walk up the sand dunes at the rear of the beach and approach the Aston Martin. Bond throws madeliane the car keys. She gets in the passenger side. Leans across and puts the key in the ignition. He puts a fortnum and mason wicker basket in the boot of the car. He realises he has left something. Walks back to the beach and shouts "start her up" over his shoulder. She turns the key and the Aston is blown to a million pieces.

After the credits roll, we get a title card : 5 months earlier
  • Now we know that both Madeleine Swann and Lucia Sciarra are alive, I have to say that there's a bigger chance for Lucia Sciarra to re-appear in Bond 25. Madeleine could perhaps appear in the PTS, but only in the PTS if you ask me. And then, like in the novels, Madeleine and Bond simply go separate ways, as they discover they don't belong to each other.

Lucia Sciarra however, with her ties to S.P.E.C.T.R.E. I could see her return in a much larger role, as a huge 'Bond Bitch', like Rosa Klebb or Irma Bunt. Perhaps she could be the key to getting Blofeld out of prison (Perhaps the British government will release Blofeld early on, due to the power Blofeld and his organisation have).

How about Bond has to break Blofeld out for some reason? But then we're back on the Bond is rogue shtick again :(

I would bring Blofeld back in Bond 25, but strictly in a caemo-setting.

Blofeld gets out of prison again, with help of powerful law firms that work for S.P.E.C.T.R.E., and with help of some British government officials. This will be mentioned during the PTS only. So Blofeld then gets away and is completely gone from the radar. Intelligence organisations are not able to track him anymore. But with help of Lucia Sciarra he sets up another lair again in a neutral country or a country that is more anti-West. But after that Blofeld seems to be not a part anymore in the main plot after the main titles.

That was also the basis of an idea I had if B25 is going to be a direct sequel to SP.

The PTS would be a nod to GE with a shadowy hooded figure infiltrating an underground facility. We would see him taking out guards and skillfully bypassing security systems. Finally, at the deepest level we would come to Blofeld's cell where the infiltrator releases him and cause a distraction elsewhere. Blofeld escapes and the infiltrator is captured and revealed as...Bond. Queue titles.

After the titles (or possibly in them) we would go back a month or so and see Bond and Madeleine enjoying retirement. Madeleine is kidnapped and Bond is forced (or brain-washed a la TMWTGG novel) into breaking out Blofeld.

I'd definitely prefer this to Madeleine being killed off at the start.
