    @fjdinardo, but the script for Craig's fifth film and the script for a new actor's first film would be two different things entirely. Maybe I'm wrong, but I'd assume they'll know whether or not he's returning before they write a script.

    Well then they should be working on a story basically a synopsis and if Craig like what he read and wants to do it tweak the script to make it for Craig and if he doesnt like it tweak it for a new actor

    It really depends on when this film will be released imho. The past has shown us that scripts can get shifted around considerably if there is a delay in releasing a film. For example, the infamous B17 script that involved robots and what not. Eventually, we ended up with GE, which was quite different.

    Moreover, EON is known for following trends and not creating them as of late. They latch onto what has been successful with other franchises and then tend to tweak it for the Bond universe.

    So perhaps it doesn't make sense to do anything until they get closer to knowing when the next film will be released.
  • Forget Bond. you got to think brothers, Judah Ben-Hur was a real person you know. It's history and it's been mentioned in museums since records began.

    That's why, Ben-Hur is a real tale, historical fact, and that's always to. End of story.

    Good point. With the B17, Connie Webb/robots treatment being shelved during the legal battle, I believe for whatever reason, it was decided to completely start fresh with a new script after the case had been resolved.
    I wonder what current trend the next oo7 film will embrace? Maybe Bond 25 will be shot and look like Batman V Superman?

    I believe that "trend" is yet to come. I doubt BvS will form a template for Bond 25.

    Whatever script is being written is being written with Craig in mind. I guarantee it. They want him back, they wouldn't just assume he isn't coming back and put all the resources into a script thinking it would be a whole new actor in the role, especially since there is no new actor on the horizon at all. They have time, plenty of it, and since no distributor is in place, there's no rush right now anyway.

    Yes, obviously they are writing with the current Bond in mind.

    makes the most sense. You have a great actor in the role, who has brought in a billion plus dollars at the box office. As someone has already mentioned, DC's been Babs collaborator, and, I'd say confidante. The two of them seem to be genuinely close friends and the partnership's been rewarding for both.

    I don't see this relationship ending any time soon.

    I'd like to think that the next Bond film is being written with Craig in mind. Perhaps it will very loosely follow the events of SP?
    BTW, has anyone been following the Barbara Broccoli film in production? After all these posts I've made griping about the fact the Bonds take longer (I should change my user name to 2yearGap), I just now discovered she's doing a bio-pic on film noir legend Gloria Grahame. I must say I'm a pretty big fan and more than glad to wait an extra year for this film. Turning over a new leaf.................

    @Reaper thanks for the correction! The film business is a business, and this union has made bank!
  • Just a thought: Work on a good James Bond story now, regardless of actor. Worry about revisions later.

    I've long thought that Eon got too hung up on "tailoring" a script to a Bond actor. Actors are supposed to act.

    Example: Bond kicking the car off the cliff in For Your Eyes Only was *NOT* tailored to Roger Moore. He expressed concerns but was told to do it. He did it. It worked.

    Yea Moore pulled the car kick off great even tho it was something his Bond didn't do. Thats how great Roger was.

    Which is why Eon should seek to produce great Bond moments instead of "tailoring" Bond moments to its actors. Sir Roger was asked to do something out of his comfort zone and delivered.

    I am one of those who are really really happy for this! But in 2019? I ain't surprised since it must take a lot of time creating the story and everything else. It was better in the past when they could be done faster. http://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/films/news/bond-25-james-bond-daniel-craig-purity-sam-mendes-showtime-spectre-a7187611.html

    With a new actor were more likely to get a quick turnaround to BOND 26. EON is always keen to push the latest Bond. They have never waited past the second year to release any of the actors' second 007 feature. Two years for all, except Connery, his was released the following year.

    Moore's second was also the following year, '73 to '74 for LaLD to TMwtGG respectively. I think it was more like a year and half, but still. A previous page here people mentioned how each Bond actor has gotten their second film pretty fast, with Moore and Connery being the outlying actors, somewhat.

    I do think a big reason why Eon doesnt want to rush the next Bond film is because they want it to make a lot of money. Having Bond films come out so close to each other could hurt it in some way at the Box office. Other than FRWL every actors 2nd film as Bond always did worst than their first film.

    joke

    Maybe we should have one Bond movie a decade. The anticipation will build and the movie will do great business. It will be an *event.*

    end joke.

    It would be great if Martin Campbell and Aidan Turner could team up for Bond 25. I know I have said that Aidan Turner would be a split between Sean Connery and Timothy Dalton, but I actually think he will be closer to a split between Roger Moore and Timothy Dalton. That's right, I think Aidan Turner would make a very funny Bond, but I think it would be a dark, piercing type of humour. Very near the knuckle jokes.

    I think QoS did more money than CR.

    Quantum of Solace = considered bad

    Skyfall = considered good

    SPECTRE = considered bad

    Bond 25 = considered good?

    I have an idea. Instead starting early on a great script, let's spend a ridiculous amount of money on a chase scene and finish up the script at the last moment. And hire P&W again. And then be shocked when it has negative reviews.

    I wouldn't be that black and white about it. The script was being developed over the course of two years, and it began to suffer problems after EON were unhappy with Logan's draft. Granted, Purvis and Wade are by no means brilliant, but what we could've gotten with Logan would have been much worse. I agree though, they need to find better ways to spend their money.

    Yes good point. The same explosion that Mendes and Hoyte forgot to film. Ugh that makes me so mad.
