I too found JDB more convincing in GE. He just seemed to fit that sort of character better. Somewhat flamboyant and larger than life, but with a good heart. With those shades and that shirt though he looks a bit like he should be on Neighbours.
I thought that Baker was perfect as the crass, boorish American arms dealer.
What Bond
For the longest time I always preferred LTK over TLD, but I just recently rewatched TLD and was surprised by how much I enjoyed that film.
Its seems to be a bit of a hobby horse for me to mention that a couple of characters namely Whitaker &Pushkin had little script to work with. But I still find the film nicely paced and these two characters scenes justified.
Its still a shame that some of the original script ideas never made it into final cut, i.e. Sgt Stagg being given more to do & actually being the one who kidnapps Kara back to Whitaker, The harrier idea could still have worked a treat and shortened the Afghan finale by a good few minutes.
You can read all about it in Making Of The Living Daylights book.
And me for that matter.
I am most put out by the invicibility of Craig's Bond. The airport scene in CR, most of QOS and the PTS of SF where Patrice shoots him. Er..right.
That's Mary Goodnight. No question.
I thought Kara Milovy was pretty naive and maybe a little stupid to be so duped by Koskov and Whitaker.
I actually liked Goodnight and Solitaire....
Bond convinces her to have sex with him with a deck of cards! And she seems to have no loyalty to Bond either. The moment Bond is captured she goes back to Dr. Kananga. She had the mind of a child.
Absolutely. But the strangest thing is that the album has some good songs they didn't include in the movie, for example Dr. No's Fantasy (which they have used extensively in documentaries).
A while other Bonds seem to tolerate their stupid gals, Dalton many times loses his patience with Kara, as when she doesn't understand that she has to enter from the back door of the plane, and the classic "we are in a Russian airbase in the middle of Afghanistan".
That's being naive and badly educated, not stupid.
Though not a fan of MR I did enjoy the PTS (IMO the highpoint of this crap fest) but it was ruined by the stupid end. Jaws flapping his arms like a funky chicken and landing on and crushing a circus tent. Want my advice: anyone watching MR can stop the DVD after the credits roll and go to the next film.
nope, Tiffany Case also did when she "seemed to be showing a bit more cheek than usual!"
Not directly though.
However, Agent bloody XXX in SPY. Was she really the best that Mother Russia had to offer?
I always howl when she bumps in to Bond and spins round with her karate chop pose, looking like she couldn't karate chop a blancmange.
Heh! Too true.
The real question is: "Was she really the best that Mother Russia had to offer?" No wonder the Eastern bloc fell so fast...
Plot. Another famale trater. Also she died at the end, only difrence is that for Bond she not died yet and i think Bond 25 should finaly making a end of that with more flashbacks and the new setup in Spectre with the Vesper Video should a start.
Dryden (Will complete delete it and start with Madagascar)
The (24) violence (Airport scene).
I not like Vesper chacter developtment and i prefer another actres.
Delete scene from the sea not be in the movie.
Conclussion
QOS:
106 minutes is to short. Not enough footage of pre-title scene after car chase.
Partly not big fan of Airplane scene.
SF:
Plot. M is the Bondgirl. She was in Twine already a bit more, but in SF the hints of her death, she finaly telling some truth and Skyfalll are great. Cold and Boring sometimes.
The Metro scene and some other parts of Silva his escape.
The card/Politic part (CNN)
Rolling stairs scene in Shangai delete.
Cinematopgraphy of China outside of the Casino
Shanghai Purple Bridge and Batman Music/Elevator music.
Eve is Moneypenny
Rushed to get tradional things back.
Death of M did nothing. I already know in 2008 that she going to die, but i think it can be more dramatic.
Spectre:
Things turn upside down (changing there minds about things..) and stil giving hope from other side. Train scene is in Marrocco desert with villian lair. Confused because a train set up at the end of QOS was in Mexico desert. Are we stil get another train scene and another villian lair simalar as one in Marrocco ?. Not realy understand why there did more with the lair. It only be a bit more then hotel of (there we go again) QOS. What about that rock and weird car.
Title of the movie and secret. Created expections there don't make true enough.
Mexico in final movie turn out to be much difrence then in trailer (Like Casino Royale alsoturn out much difrent then final movie), another thing together with ''Writing On The Wall'' who created expections. My expections be that Bond turn rogue, go after Quantum on his own (finaly). Will it have a connection with the Airport scene of Casino Royale. Denbirgh was biggest mysterie, turn out in another not intresting/boring trater.
Two other trailer mistakes: Big Spoiler of Mr White and Madeline (You protect somebody ?) Showing Christopher Waltz.
Barrel is rushed to at at start again and Q scene with the watch is rushed also. (See my comment with Skyfall about rushed to get things back.)
Thomas Newman re-using music of Skyfall pre-title for pre-title of Spectre.
Madeline introduction is to long/screentime of the movie.
Moneypenny Boyfriend and she act like M (Is she taken over a storyline there whant making with M her husband there making a end about in Skyfall and also she visit Bond like M did before..)
Blofeld and turn out he is Bond stephbrother. (Oberhauser turn out Bond steph brother is already something i not realy like. Also return of Blofeld is something i dislike.)
Stepbrother thing used as excuse to let him a life.
Arrow/TDK reference (I like the unexpect Car Crash but then movie turn in to much like Arrow/TDK dark style movie and from that part i onlike like end of Mi6 bulding.)
Three times hint this is end the movie and final end bring back the Astin DB5. Only thing i like about it that Daniel Craig Bond finaly get his Bond get the girl scene. Finaly like all those other girls. Bye Bye Bondgirl. Also with mind what happend with Dench M in Skyfall. Stil i am also a bit afraid it mabey not be end yet and that not only count for Madeline, but also will keep in mind a possible return of Sam Mendes and Thomas Newman.
I don't know why but that line annoys me. Crude and not very funny. Carry On territory.
The Oberhauser nonsense, and the absolutely lame London finale.
Throw in Rory Kinnear and Sam Smith as well.
Other than those I am happy.
Someone on this site (I can't remember who) suggested that people view the two films YOLT and OHMSS as alternate sequels to TB, and view DAF only as the sequel to YOLT.
That was Murdock and me.
