To apologize for the misunderstanding he's actually decided to pledge $5 million (each!) to the Texas and Florida relief funds.

    Isn't that right, @Thunderfinger?

    how do you know, Brady?

Yes, especially if I said it. I need to create a shadowy and dubious reputation to offset my apparent outside innocuous and trusting side. I'll have to take lessons from Thundy and see where that gets me.

I simply believe in a reasonable rate of return. And a yearly bonus.

I'm just a man who knows his business, and his clientele. My motto is "Insurance is assurance" and I can play hard ball with anyone to protect and invest my clients' money where it best serves their bottom line and retirement plans. AND IT'S ALL TOTALLY, 100% LEGAL WITH NO LOOPHOLE JUMPING TO SPEAK OF.

I guess I just have a knack for selling people on deals and ideas. I've got a funny story about a banking deal I did with a tycoon in Peru where I literally enticed him to sell his mother up the river to another rich family, some centuries old billionaire royalty who the woman would serve under as a maid. The sale of the old bird funded my client's big stock investment involving a prototype plane in Miami that would net him big money if things went our way. That end of the job didn't go through for whatever reason, but a fun story from an anecdotal perspective.

I watched Lucky Logan today and I loved it! I may be suspicious, as I'm a huge Soderbergh fan, but it seems like other people in the room were also having a great time. Craig is great as is the entire cast, really. I couldn't help but thinking however that Hilary Swank was a bit wasted in that small role but it really sounded like they were setting up a sequel with that ending. Anyway, great film.

@Mendes4Lyfe I think you have just completely nailed my thoughts on the Craig tenure.

    Excellently put.

When I first went to the cinema to see Casino Royale, I was very skeptical. There was this effervescent buzz around at the time, with phrases like the "the best Bond film ever" being thrown around, but deep down I wasn't sure what I was going to get. I hadn't read the book at the time, so I really didn't know much about the story, apart from that it centered around a poker game. Remembering back now, the number one thing that sticks out in my memory was a mixture of excitement and confusion. It was certainly a darker take and that left an instant impression, however I was kinda puzzled about a couple of things. I didn't understand why there was characters at MI6, but they weren't Q and Moneypenny. And the ending really got me. Not having read the book at the time, I thought once Le Chiffre was dead that would be it. Just wrap things up, and that's that. The last 20 minutes kinda perplexed me. It's like the plot was over one minute and then jump started back to life. How can you wrap things up, and then expect people to care once something new happens. It felt like a cheat to me. I'm fine with a henchman coming back to throw a spanner in the works at the last minute, but Casino had no henchman. This guy with the eyepatch just turns up out of thin air. Anyway, it kinda left a sour taste in my mouth.

So I never had Casino down as one of the top 3 Bond films or anything, but I was excited to see where they would go with it. Then Quantum happened. Again, I enjoyed it at the time, but there was this sense building in me, that they weren't getting the most out of Bond. I had my problems with Casino, but I at least understood the reasoning behind taking a step back. With Quantum, it was like they were taking another 2 steps back and it no longer felt warranted. Then there was that huge gap, and I felt sure that they would come back with a Bond film for the ages. Skyfall certainly made a big splash, and I knew Q and Moneypenny were back this time. Initially I loved the film, but gradually I came to realize that it was no different than the other two. It still had the same mindset, it just had a few more of the bells and whistles. I didn't understand why Bond still needed to be broken, tortured, on the mend etc. It was like this idea of a flawed Bond that began in CR had never really been developed or moved forward. It really began to irritate and confound me. The only way they felt they could show drama and realism was to paint with such broad strokes, and have Bond be emotionally crippled again and again. By the time of SPECTRE, I really wasn't holding out hope for anything different. When we saw the trailers, with Craig staring wistfully at an old photo, it was pretty evident we were in for the same thing. And it didn't matter how much Scooby gang shenanigans or how many gadget cars were involved in what was going on.

So the initial feeling of something just be slightly off in CR had developed gradually over time to the point of complete exasperation. It was stupefying to me why they refused to adapt or develop their approach at all. truthfully, I didn't even know what was missing. But then I had something of a revelation. Around the time of SPECTRE, this video was released:

I was kinda taken aback when I saw this. It seemed to sum up what had been missing from Bond for the past 10 years. For the first time I was seeing Craig being Bondian, but not playing it a rookie, or over the hill, or depressed, or nostalgic. He was just being "in the moment". It may sound ridiculous, but I think this is Craig's best performance in this type of role. It made me realize just how few times we see Craig genuinely in control and at ease during his tenure. Not wisecracking per se, but vivacious. It just made me understand what I couldn't quite put my finger on for all those years, because what I was experiencing wasn't a problem but an absence, a deficiency. All of a sudden I began to view the entire Craig era as very two dimensional and crude. They couldn't get past the idea that drama equals personal stakes, and realism just means making everything serious and dour. Again, that works for a one film narrative, but when it is stretched out to such an extent it just becomes absurd. True depth requires a lightness of touch to be present, that enables a starker contrast. And that's why, for me, Craig has perhaps the worst tenure of all Bonds. Because I can see how good Craig could have been in the role and the wasted potential, and I refuse to just ignore it. If that's my way of "pushing an agenda" or denigrating Craig, then I apologize - because it wasn't my intention.

Yes, I think he might like that. Being bad seems much more interesting aa it has more layers to it.

I think a lot of people were surprised by his versatility in Logan Lucky, which may have opened a few new doors for him, post Bond.

Do you really have to ask? I mean, if somebody hired Craig to play the stake that pierces Draculas heart she would wax endlessly about how many new nuances he is getting out of it.

Right. Hope you can live with it. I am just the antidote to nice chaps like you. Like I said before, your solace in real life must be on real slow mo. Nobody is as constantly negative, if he isn't as sorrow in real life.

Back to topic, as an old X-Men fan I would really love if this happened. Gambit is one of my favourite characters in the X universe and it's a shame they never did anything worthy of him in the XCU.

This is interesting because Craig has never struck me as the type of actor who'd go for something like this, and he definitely doesn't come across as geeky enough to be really invested in the comics and sign on based purely off that, which makes me think the script is really good. After all he didn't even want to sign on for CR until he'd seen the script.

I haven't seen any of the actual X Men films but I'm interested, I really liked Deadpool, I like Channing Tatum, and for Craig to do a comic book movie I feel like the character/script must be interesting (unless he just wants another big franchise to keep the money rolling in now he's done with Bond but he's probably set for life now anyway and he usually seems quite picky with his roles so I doubt that). And it'll be cool to see him play a proper villain.

I'm just happy to be seeing more of him. He's a really good actor, I think he's by far the most talented one to play Bond, and could do really well after Bond if he plays his cards right imo. Could see him getting nominated/winning an Oscar if he got cast in the right movie.

Wonder if we could see him pop up in Kingsman 3? Seems that Channing Tatum really liked working with him and obviously him and Vaughn have history. I know Vaughn said he wanted Dwayne Johnson to play the villain in the next one but how cool would it be to have James Bond be the bad guy in what's basically the Scream of the spy genre.

@thelivingroyale, when I heard Dan was being considered for the X-Men role, I also wondered if he and Channing became buds on Logan Lucky and Channing threw his name to the casting directors.

I assume so, as it's natural to talk about their projects on set - at least this one, as it seemed, they also spent a lot of free time together.

DC is one of many actors providing their perspective in the HBO documentary Spielberg. There is a surprising amount of time spent on Munich.

"Life is not a James Bond film," DC says.

From all reports, DC became good friends with both Tatum and Driver.
