Well, these guys reliable. If there is any director that could make a fifth Craig film work, it's Nolan.

But the big up side is that this would free up Campbell to direct the next Bond film after B25 with a new actor.
80 year old Martin Campbell directing a Bond film... :))

Exactly. Might as well get a 87 year old Sean Connery back.

    1. Sam Mendes
    2. Yann Demange
    3. Denis Villeneuve
    4. David Mackenzie
    5. Steven Soderbergh

    Agree? Disagree?

    UPDATE:

    1. Yann Demange
    2. Christopher Nolan
    3. Denis Villeneuve
    4. Sam Mendes
    5. David Mackenzie

My question lies in, for whoever having the awareness, are we getting the distribution announcement this month? Or is that something extended even farther than January 2018?

I would think no distributor means no director.

EDIT: What's interesting is both the recent rumours (Villeneuve and now Nolan) point to Warner, even though they probably can't make a deal of this size given the AT&T/Warner merger still being in limbo (deals that can affect the P&L are normally frozen during this sort of scenario). Moreover, WW's move up also indicates no Warner, unless they know something about Bond 25's release date being moved (back?).

Baz Bamigboye on the recent Nolan rumour:

Anyway, if it turns out that this rumor was complete BS, then archivo007 will lose ALL credibility.

Thanks for that. It's unsurprising really. Nolan will probably do B26.

I still think it's most likely Mendes for the hat trick.

Tarantino is a great director. But, his style doesn’t fit the Bond saga no matter how hard he tries it. Tarantino produces pseudo-1970s crime films in whichever shape they come. His pitch for Casino Royale though was awful.

Imagine putting The Mamas and The Papas songs in the soundtrack. :))

If Babs and MGW can convince the IFF to allow a true adaptation of TSWLM (and I'd take that rather than these four-year gaps), Tarantino is the man.
No, Campbell should direct Bond 26. He has proven himself as the man to introduce a new Bond.

Besides, Tarantino career has been sliding downhill since Jackie Brown. He hasn't lived up to his reputation in over a decade.
You do realize he'd be 79 by 2022, don't you? He wouldn't have the energy for a big budget production to be the helm at like Bond. There's a reason The Foreigner was a bit weak.

A bit ageist. Ridley Scott is doing just fine, for one.

DC is going to have considerable say in who directs Bond 25. We may have already known this, but after the disaster of Kings, it seems that more than ever, DC will NOT want a fresh face. He will want someone he knows and trusts. I can't see Yann or Mackenzie or (especially) McGuigan getting this job. If EON doesn't land a big name, like Villeneuve or Nolan, then John Crowley might be a dark horse. He has workled with DC. He has directed a critically-acclaimed film (Brooklyn). He has done the action drama (True Detective).

That said: David Fincher's schedule is open. He has not yet officially attached himself with World War Z 2. And the fact that he would even consider that, under pleas from Pitt, would suggest Fincher could be "talked into" Bond 25. ;-)

I don't share most others' affinity for MC. CR was built on script and DC. I find the actual directing itself to be second rate, at best. In some places, it has not aged well. During a recent viewing, I actually found myself laughing (not in a good way) at the embassy scene. The production design simply isn't on par with what Mendes did -- or even Forster.

@TripAces I believe John Crowley would be a much bigger risk than Demange or Mackenzie. Demange has 71, and Mackenzie has Hell or High Water. John Crowley has only directed small budget dramas.

Baz has built his career on not passing off rumour as fact so I think if he says something he should be listened to.

Much as I would hate to see a direct adaptation of Fleming's TSWLM you are right to be fair - Tarantino could do it justice brilliantly.

And why do we think Christopher Nolan would confirm to Baz Bamigboye before any sort of official announcement?

I don't personally hold much confidence in Nolan doing Bond 25, but I also don't think he would tell Baz so casually that he was, if he was.

I would NOT be surprised if Noland signs on for B26 but for B25 it would be a small sensation in my opinion.

So what's your point? The simple fact is there is limited (to no) evidence, outside of a couple of unnamed 'industry sources' that Nolan has any involvement whatsoever with B25.

Fair enough, and that's self evident. We really don't know anything at this point, which is why we meander daily from one rumour to the next.

In a vacuum his comment means nothing, but the simple fact remains he called P&W and he called Craig preferring Villeneuve (both of which have been confirmed since). So if anyone would know about something of this magnitude (including the stated rumour that Nolan has actually been working on the project), he probably would.

So who has the better track record with scoops then, Bamigboye or Archivo007?

Archivo007's scoop is (apparently) from multiple indirect sources with knowledge of the project or at least the industry. Bamigboye is reliable in his traditional reporting, but in this case, while he spoke with Nolan directly, it is highly likely that Nolan would lie to him if he was indeed in talks to sign on for Bond 25.

I'm not saying either is or isn't credible. One is (apparently) industry sources. The other is a tweet from a reporter asking a director who potentially has plenty of reason to lie.

My main point is just to not get too worked up about either, and just wait it out for something real. You're not going to find answers from either of the resources in question until the powers that be want us to know.

Over two years of time enough for preparation, you'd think they'd have things multiply planned in advance by now.

I’m still cautiously optimistic about Bond 25. If Mendes returns I will feel meh about it.
