An additional (key) nugget in Perez's updated story:

    https://theplaylist.net/christoph-waltz-bloefeld-bond-25-20190711/

He claims Blofeld indeed returns in a sort of "Silence of the Lambs" type scene, being mined for information while imprisoned by -- get this -- Lea Seydoux. So that would suggest Madeleine indeed survives the pretitles, and has a larger role to play in the story than some might assume.

I can personally add that I've heard conflicting reports about her character's fate from various sources whom I'd (all) consider trustworthy, so I've no idea what's what at this point. But I hope the take Perez offers here turns out to be true.
Perhaps this explains the flashback scene! Is it possible during the interrogation by Maddie the flashback occurs? (Recall that in Spectre Blofeld said he “came to your house when you were a little girl”) Also, Maddie is a psychologist - this makes perfect sense.

What are the chances of the stepbrother connection being negated? I think high.

Agreed. They should just let it be and move on.

Well, Madeleine not getting fridged is good news, at least. Wonder if this will be more of a "team" film a la MI than the previous Bonds.

    That would be awful.

It was always going to happen. EON didn't get the SPECTRE and Blofeld rights back to use them in one film and be done with it. With Madeline coming back, it made sense. Hopefully this will indeed elevate SP in peoples eyes

    Exactly.

One thing that excites me about bringing back SPECTRE is there is a chance to hopefully tie it up satisfyingly this time around. DAF did quite a poor job of that back in the day IMO. Hoping they take some elements from the YOLT novel to do it right this time.

Is Malek the son of Mr. Hinx? It's plausible.

One thing this news confirms, if we didn't already know it: Bond 25 will be another LONG Bond film. Over 140 minutes, easily. There's no way they can fit in all these locations, new characters, and now Waltz's return all into under 2 hours. The audience would have a greater sense we of whiplash than they had with QoS.

    This is going to be the most ambitious film in the franchise, whether it turns out right or not - and could also very well be the longest film too. There's just so threads;

    1. Bond and Madeline life status post SPECTRE

    2. New potential female 00 subplot, almost like a new main lead character.

    3. Satisfactory conclusion to Craig's five film arc, perhaps drawing from remnants of the past (Vesper).

    4. Set up for new techno-villain in Rami Malek's character. Includes the plot to capture scientist.

    5. M, Q Moneypenny AND Felix all given meaningful supportive parts, and allowed their own moments to shine.

    6. At least 3 major action set pieces and half a dozen changes of location each in involving proper establishment.

    7. And now Waltz's involvement

Nothing on this list can be rushed through or breezed over. It's an absolutely crazy script, I'm sure and more than a little intrigued by how it will turn out. Cary Fukunaga will need to be a filmmaking wizard to conduct everything appropriately. Good luck, is all I can say.

It seems Babs enjoyed SP quite a bit more than a lot of us.
Now how long is it before Shatterhand is officially announced as the title?

If anything People say About Baz Bamigboye is true, Baz reporting it means it didn´t get leaked, but planted.

Well it was pretty obvious - just look at Waltz' upcoming schedule - it's remarkably empty.

This is probably a good reason why they don't want to give out a title.

Just don't screw over Malek for Waltz please :)
Imagine Malek in the end having an Extended henchman role, but Waltz having even more screentime.

well that nips the whole 'she gets killed off' idea in the bud for sure... though her getting "killed off" and turns out having survived is a possibility

Anyway as someone who loved what SP attempted to do I absolutely adore all of these new developments. They're doubling down, and trying to make it even bigger than that last film (and hopefully better too). Bring it on, I'd say. And for those not fans of the direction, Craig's gone after this and the reboot is almost definitely coming...best to fully commit to and follow through properly with the serialisation.

    Absolutely.

Since SP established the Craig era as a kind of self-contained story arc, this idea of 25 being a proper conclusion to a 5 movies narrative - reprising characters and events from SP and coming full circle with CR - to me makes perfect sense.

Plus, regarding Blofeld, it's nice to have him back in some form because his demise in SP after being revealed as the shadowy puppet master behind a lot of previous events felt too much rushed, given what his character meant for Bond. Perhaps there's a chance to see a bald Blofeld in prison. Would be nice if you ask me.

As someone mentioned earlier, if CJF can manage to combine the best elements of QOS and Spectre we will have an excellent Bond film. These two films have strengths and weakness literally on opposite ends of the spectrum. The tricky part will be to “de-Mendes” the crew: M, MP, Maddie, Blofeld, etc. This cast represents Mendes’ legacy very strongly - it will take some creative horsepower to break that old energy.

QoS had more locations and plenty of new characters, and was 105 minutes long. And expect Waltz to have a cameo only. No way to tell yet if this is a 120 minute Bond movie or 150.

I obviously don't see Blofeld overshadowing the main villain played bu Malek. But I don't think he will appear just for a super brief cameo. Maybe just for a couple of sequences, like Mr. White in SP.

Remind me, was he involved with EON or something? I seem to remember him having connections but totally forgot..

I do have friends who worked on Skyfall and Spectre. ;)
    Don’t forget you’re also a senior member of MI6 (13 years now).

    Settle down kiddo.

No need to attack the grown ups.

Dude, I remember you being not like this.

The Playlist's article elaborates on exactly that point
just a one-scene Hannibal Lecter-type cameo, where Madeleine questions him for info

Yes, I recall that member (can't remember his name) revealing that bit of information a while back and coming to the conclusion that it was for an imprisoned Blofeld. The member couldn't reveal his location, though, as his company were in early talks and possibly it involved a signed disclosure of some kind. Either way, I believed him.

One thing I'll say for the return of Waltz: Without Mendes we'll hopefully be getting a more rounded Blofeld. I'm sure CJF is going to utilise him much better than previously seen by the exalted-one. At least we won't have to go through Eon pulling a J.J. Abrams trick by pretending that Waltz wasn't Blofeld the same way that Benedict Cumberbatch wasn't Khan again.

You might be on to something here, even though I don't really want Blofeld to return. :-?

    Interesting,
so looks like we won't see a foster brothers reunion. Fine with that, since Bond already had his victory in SP. Looks like Malek's character will be definitely linked to Madeleine's past just like we predicted. Plus, for a character like this Blofeld, being in prison for the rest of his life is far a more painful perspective than just die.

Ok, Waltz may be in London, but does anybody know where is Léa Seydoux?
