Love how everyone who though it was “death of you” is ignoring that’s its “him”.

It’s “you”, it gets a bit mumbled (not really the correct description). It’s been discussed extensively already.

In the new tv spot there isn’t any shot of Blofeld, just the voice over of the line. It’s very clear “him”.

I still hear “you”. We’ll know in a few months, but I wouldn’t say it’s “clear” at all if people are still disagreeing.

I've been hearing "him" since the initial trailer, even with this TV spot...

However, I can safely say that it's "You" after listening to that part on my phone with the speaker placed to my ear. He does sort of slur it a bit but I am now officially on the "you" train. Woo woo.

There is no doubt for me that it's "him" that is being said.
This is another white and gold dress phenomenon?

    I guess so.

The German trailer is clear on this: Waltz says You. Since he dubbed his own line for the trailer, I think he knows what he said in English.

    Good point.

That’s a bit of fun. The quick cutting shots of all of the big stars in the movie is made quite funny by cutting to a picture of Judi Dench!

I've watched the clip several times as I'm sure we all have. I'm really liking the look of this film. I think the plane looks a bit Brosnan era, but aside from that (based upon what we've seen to date) it it looks like a classic, thrilling Bond film to end of Craig's tenure.

If you look closely at the frame of Malek holding the gun to the camera, it looks quite similar to the room where Strangways speaks to Dr. No for the first time.

    Nice callback!

Another interesting thing I noted is that when Craig's under water he's wearing a white shirt with suspenders. It's not a tab collar shirt as there's no secondary button and if I'm not mistaken the only visible button looks like a stud, meaning this is underneath his tuxedo. We've seen Craig almost always wear suspenders underneath his tuxedo starting from Casino Royale. Does this potentially take place after his run in with SPECTRE?

A lot of interesting visuals and a lot to dissect!

This does rather throw the MI6-HQ website’s reporting into doubt, doesn’t it?

The plane scene looks a little like the switchblade scene with Bond and Jinx in "Die Another Day"...

Unless they were intentionally throwing us off to keep the spot a surprise.

That’s not really what news reporting is for.

(Also posted in the trailer thread)

Could this be the aircraft with the glider (probably CGI) inside? Plus to right you can see a car. Is that the same Aston Martin Nomi is driving when she meets up with Bond on the dusty road? If so that could be a clue. Speculation: He joins her in the car, hatching a plan, drives to the airfield and up in the aircraft / sitting in the glider.

That would be Madeleine Swann as a young girl.

At least there's a small slim stuntwoman listed as young Swann/girl on IMDB so two and two together

True but I was just giving them the benefit of the doubt. They could have just received bad intel from a trusted source.

If they receive deliberately fake intel from a trusted source, it's not a trusted source anymore.

I wrote bad, not deliberately fake. But you’re right.

Yes, I noted this as well. This further suggests to me that a lot more goes on in Cuba than I initially anticipated and that the encounters with Madeleine and Blofeld at MI6 HQs take place in the second half of the film.
  • Just a quick FYI – but I heard from someone close to the production that Safin definitely isn’t Dr No. There are a few members here that can vouch for me, so let’s not get too carried away just yet…….

So all these nods to Dr No are an elaborate misdirect?

Or references/call backs from a film that the director admires.

Not the only misdirects in these trailers...

Yeah I think people have just latched onto references.

And whats all this about misdirects? What kind? And to be honest if a film wants to keep its secrets, why wouldn't it include misdirects?

Much was made of Malek’s odd comment around his characters name/moniker in the Entertainment Weekly interview. Many interpreted his comment as subterfuge around his character’s real identity of Dr. No. Pairing his comments with that of Barbara Broccoli’s statement that Safin is a (paraphrase) mean old thing, it sounds like Safin is a much older man that has been known by many names.

I'd be more than happy if they're just call backs to a previous film and nothing else. Only time will tell

What if this is just misdirection from his part?

Anyway I'm open to both Safin being just Safin or Safin being nicknamed Dr. No. As long as the character is well written I couldn't care less about him being No.

I also think this is people using what they have been given with Skyfall (Moneypenny) and Spectre (Blofeld) to try and work out what may happen in No Time to Die, As @HildebrandRarity touched upon, Dr. No is not that significant really. He appeared once. Moneypenny and Blofeld have always been recurring characters, and both staples of the franchise.

Safin will be Dr. No the same way Silva was Scaramanga. Just heavily influenced with a lot of correlations between the two but at the end of the day completely different beasts and an original character for audiences.
