I have to ask, what is wrong with Poe being quippy there? Because that’s exactly how he was introduced in TFA when meeting Kylo Ren. “So, who talks first? You talk first? I talk first?”. Only he’s now a bit cockier after having blown up their Starkiller base and now wants to have a little fun messing with these fascists.

Nothing. Poe is a great character and his introduction to Kylo Ren was excellent.

Apparently, when the movies were broadcast on television in Chile around 2003, the channel did not want to interrupt them to go to commercial breaks, since it was the first time they were broadcast, so they came up with a somewhat curious idea.

They recorded footage for certain specific scenes and edited it into the movies.

    Horrible.
    1) The commercials inserted in the films are a crime.
    2) The dub is just gruesome.

I loved TLJ in the cinema snd I still think it holds up well as a standalone film. My problem with the film started when I had time to reflect and it dawned on me how it disrupts the overall continuity of any comprehensive trilogy. It doesn't develope any of the storylines TFA and it leaves almost nothing to work on for the next film. In the end they had to almost start over again in episode XI, which resulted in a rushed mess.

I still don't understand why they chose to make things up as they went with the trilogy and didn't even attempt to make an at least rough outline of an overall story arch. In the end neither of the films are outright terrible on their own, but as a trilogy it's shockingly bad.

I hope some of the Jedi Past come back as Force Ghosts.

As for the sequels, it does seem like no one was on the same page, other than getting them out. I have enjoyed all 11 live-action Star Wars movies, for one reason or another. I don't have a favorite, as it's one long story. For all the flaws of the prequels, they go together pretty decently, from a storytelling standpoint.

My understanding is that they did have an outline of what the ST could be, but that the filmmakers weren’t beholden to it, which is the exact same thing Lucas did with his trilogies where he had vague ideas of what would happen. For example, Lucas already had the idea of Luke having a sister in TESB, but at the time it was NOT meant to be Leia. He decided to make Leia his sister in ROTJ because it would not only be a character we’re already familiar with but that when Vader threatens to turn her that’s what would set off Luke. Luke’s sister was supposed to be introduced much later in what would be the sequel trilogy at a later time, but by ROTJ Lucas felt he should just wrap the saga up ending it at 6 instead.

Besides, not everything goes according to plan. Leia was supposed to have a very substantial part in IX much like how Han did in VII and Luke in VIII.

This is hilarious, awful genius all at once, a maddening crime against humanity but extremely funny at the same time. Imagine that being your first introduction to these classics.

Agreed @MaxCasino ... he was just a kid, and the scorn cast onto him by unforgiving "fans" broke him. It's a tragic story, disgusting, and I wish him the best too.

That's sad, he did a fine job in that film, which really wasn't a bad movie at all. I had severe problems with AOTC, but ROTS was great. As far as 7, 8 & 9 go... all the new characters were fine. I just wish they had been written & produced without Mark, Harrison & Carrie....

According to his mother, it wasn’t Star Wars fans that “broke” him. It was actually the result of what was going on within the family that had an impact on him, such as a divorce. Another huge thing that happened was that his little sister passed away. Losing her was big setback for his mental health.

So all the rumors of fans hating on Jake and that he hates Star Wars as a result was all just fan rumor. It would be very easy to just say Star Wars fame was what broke him, but the mother seems adamant about taking accountability. She also clarifies that at the time the movie came out she basically kept him away from all the noise. The only experience he had as far as bullying would go was when he went to high school, which is very normal of teenage years.

Had no idea. I'd just read the more salacious stuff.

Goes to show : don't believe everything you read.

Still a tragedy of a poor soul that got derailed, and best wishes to him (and anyone else suffering from mental health issues).

Thanks for the update @MakeshiftPython ...

For sure, and it’s understandable considering how actors get hate by fans over STAR WARS. I for a long time assumed Jake Lloyd was impacted by fan hate the same way Ahmed Best, Daisy Ridley, and Kelly Marie Tran got.

Jake seems to be luckier in that he actually has a caring family. He’d probably be in worse condition if he didn’t have that. So in a weird way he’s more fortunate than other troubled child stars.

Glad to see Jake Lloyd getting better and seeing more love from the fans. He was in an impossible situation. He did a great job. No one should be harassed by anyone for just trying to do a job. When I hear about Ahmed Best, Daisy Ridley (who got so stressed she had holes in her actual stomach wall), Kelly Marie Tran (who got less screen time arguably trying to please fans, nice move, JJ Abrams and Disney), it makes me sad to be a Star Wars fan. This goes for anyone in any form of media. I also use Laura Bailey as Abby in The Last of Us Part 2 as an example. Threatening people for doing their job is meaningless. It’s time for people to realize people in the media are human beings too. We’re all trying to do the number one thing in life: survive. The more peaceful we can do it, the better.

Keeping on that subject of Star Wars fans, they are right about one thing: Lucasfilm needs to release the original 6 movies in their original theatrical releases. Yes, even the Prequels got a bit of the Special Edition treatment. It just feels right. I don’t care if the updated versions are still available, that’s fine. George Lucas needs to realize you can’t rewrite history before he dies.

Also, I find it ironic that so many people who want the original versions are also probably the same people who the Phil Lord and Chris Miller version of Solo. As well as a animated movie of Duel of the Fates with Colin Trevorrow supervising it. Same with a JJ Abrams director’s cut of The Rise of Skywalker. It seems like Star Wars fans can rarely get happy. At the same time, George Lucas, and everyone since Disney took over, has given them a reason to be upset. Star Wars maybe the most no win media franchise to work on.

In some happier news (for me, at least), I’m happy that this still has a chance to be made.

Fans blowing their anger all over a movie is one thing, but to attack people and wish the worst upon them, is several steps too far. The SW crowd went from positive and relaxed to pathologically negative and very tensed up. They are seeing conspiracies everywhere. Kathleen Kennedy is using SW to push her feminist politics. Disney is using SW to make kids "woke". So-and-so should never work again (see Ahmed Best.) Haters used to just hate; today, they are acting as obscenely possessive, dangerous and volatile incels. And they creep me the hell out. SW is a party during which drinks are spilt and rooms are messed up, but it's nevertheless a great party. It's not a perfect Kubrickian arthouse effort but a wild spectacle that tries to please everyone. Let's stop taking it all so damn seriously! Only a severely frustrated soul would kick "woke" accusations in the franchise's butt. Normal people just try to have some fun with SW -- and can we, please?

Psssst @DEKE_RIVERS , this is how Deadline breaks a story... They may report on stories circulating as fillers, but one of their JOURNALISTS who are hired to break stories, will come on and break a story with Deadline, "confirming" that whatever rumours are out there, are actually, you know, happening (which they, and their peers, have yet to do on *that* rumour... It seems to finally be dying down, but I'm sure when his Mrs releases her film next Friday, it may gear up again, cuz, you know, clicks...)
    Do you get it now?

    Wait-- please don't answer that...
