I would imagine P&W have been working on it for awhile now ?
I don't think getting money from Amazon would be a problem and probably getting a more than decent budget most likely.
Doesn't answer mine either.
I asked first.
What odds are you giving?
Gentlemen!
You can’t fight in here, this is the war room!
It just occurred to me that the CCBB remake might be to prevent a lawsuit, and drag Bond 26s production into even more uncertainty. Does feel strange that now of all times they suddenly decide to remake the Van Dyke classic.
Well, Wicked.
They are following trends.
It just seems to me that Barbara holds all the cards and theres not much Amazon can do to hurry them along. On a brighter note, while the wait for Bond 26 will be punishing, I believe when it arrives in 2028 or 2029 it will be a spectacular film and a breathe of fresh air for the series. I'd much prefer that to the churning out of mediocre slop that is mildly satiating at best but never truly satisfying, like modern Star Wars and Marvel.
lol exactly.
With the way things are in the world, it should be easier than ever to write a Bond movie without making it too topical. If they can't make it work, it's because they're starting off with the wrong ideas. The world is at its most precarious state since the Cold War. This is precisely the time for the return of the unabashedly heroic James Bond, not more dreary 3-hour metatextual commentaries on his social relevance.
Nobody has reported any issues with Eon struggling with a script or not having writers. In fact, it was once reported they may have tipped to Purvis and Wade for a treatment after NTTD, I remember it being mentioned. So I don't know why you suddenly believe the only thing holding B26 back is the writing... that's not the priority if there's clearly issues with the financing and distribution relationship. Stop attacking BB's intelligence it's not a good look and it's obvious where your true issues rest...
Two years ago, on the Empire Film podcast, BB said they would "probably" start work shortly, possibly with Purvis and Wade. So, at some point, she was interested in moving rather soon. That's the last we've heard about writing, but it's also the last we would hear before any official announcement of a full project in development, which maybe isn't happening yet. The only reports we have indicate issues are elsewhere right now.
It is possible that EoN knows exactly what the want to do and have done a significant amount of work; the relationship with Amazon may be complicating moving forward.
I find it hard to believe that no story and direction development has been begun.
idk how they could end up making Musk a villain anyways.
Well, as Broccoli said herself, they effectively did that in TND.
Anyway, I think it's clear as there's no information available to us at the moment, there's going to be a tendency to project our own views onto this. EON are fumbling/arguing with Amazon due to a preoccupation with Bond's 'emotional state' (which yes, is stupid and a leap of logic when you think about it). The Bond producers definitely have a script written due to a tenuous quote they said over two years ago (no, in all likelihood no full script has been written, and beyond ideas to go into a pre-production with there's no reason to suggest there's some secret script ready to go). All we can do is wait. This is so beyond most of us unfortunately.
This is, ironically, what P&W said about you-know-who a while back. Basically, there is little difference between the fictional and real world when it comes to corruption and villany.
Yeah, as Musk is apparently trying to style himself on a Bond villain and is doing all of these obviously objectionable things, having a baddie in an actual Bond film styled on him would be like a weird recursive bit of feedback, and the character wouldn't be particularly interesting or original as a result.
At this rate I'm holding out for a villain who, very broadly, follows some sort of logical 'algorithm' type thing or eschews using gut instinct. Can't say that's not topical for EON.
LOL. So the villain and Bond are basically Amazon and Eon?
It's not a bad idea at that.
???
I never had a problem with her running the series until around SP or so, if that's what you're implying.
