I love you my man, but I'm calling you out on this one, @chrisisall. The gene therapy plot mess of DAD makes SP's story look Shakespearean in presentation. Honestly, it can't get lower and weaker than DAD. Massive sci-fi laser, check. A Korean man that somehow absorbs himself into the character of a white Englishman and gets surgery to resemble and act like one convincingly in no time flat, check. Tsunami wave kite surfing, check. Henchman with a face of literal diamonds, check. A final boss fight with the big bad in a mech body suit going all Robo-cop on Bond, check. It doesn't get weirder than this.
It was pure fun and entertainment for me. And a big bucket of heavily buttered popcorn only increased the fun factor. I was having a pleasure overload. ;)
At least, IMO.
Oh, and the diamonds in the face thing was seriously THE stupidest thing in any spy film ever. A quick decision by the director could have prevented that bull***t.

My opinions on it feel almost day and night from what they were before. I swear, I had the stupidest grin on my face for at least 89% of the movie, the other 11% being made up of looks of intensity during big, dramatic moments.
I watched SF early this morning in preparation for my second viewing of SP, figuring that they'd go well together when viewed close to each other, and I think I made the right choice. Popping in SF was a blast, and for some reason, I enjoyed myself more than I ever have before while watching it. This must've put me in just the right mood for more Bond today. By seeing the two films so close together the continuity found in SP carrying on from SF felt all the more important, substantial and weighty.
What I loved the first time around-The PTS, train sequence, MI6 team, the motifs/themes and Dan-I loved a thousand times over again, while the things I was iffy on-Oberhauser/Blofeld, the merger/Nine Eyes, Madeleine and Bond's relationship and London finale-I really warmed to, some things more than I ever expected to.
Looking back now, I think many of the disappointments I had about this film after first seeing it were born from not absorbing the subtleties of the film enough. This time I was able to really hone in on the stuff I felt I missed out on the first time, namely C and Blofeld's plot and motivations, and this time around I understood all of it much more clearly, which raised the tensions and stakes present in the film.
So much of the good stuff in this film is subtle and non-verbal; the looks Bond gives other characters, the flashes of important motifs that linger only a while on the screen, the mannerisms the characters give off to each other as they interact; everything on screen is important and says something. A sharp, fiery gaze can mean just as much dramatically as a dialogue filled shout match between characters, and each cast member added so much depth to their characters by really playing up these subtle moments throughout.
The only hints of sadness or regret I feel can be connected to the fact that I didn't ever want it to end. I love this era so much and because we only get a film every three years, it almost feels bittersweet when after the long waits and time we invest in discussing each film pre-release, it's over in what feels like seconds. Dan has my permission to be Bond forever, but of course, he's always had that.
I'm going to do a full write up of my thoughts about the film as a whole when there is one thread just for SP reviews on the forum, but I just wanted to pop in and proudly share my defection. I'm now a full-on member of team Spectre! \m/

Those that seem to have the temerity to suggest that SP is great seem to be trampled and swamped by very loud repetitive 'I hate SP too' posters - it all becomes very tiring and boring when we're all supposed to be Bond fans.
I'd even guess the DCiNB crew has set up camp here and are shit stirring

Yeah well, I feel a bit sorry for them. Especially since most of these people also didn't like QOS and SF a lot. It sickens me sometimes what I read. And in all honesty, I sometimes start to think if they are still Bond fans...
Now, now. You know it's all just a matter of taste, and not everyone is going to like the Craig era and the path it's going down, as strange and difficult as that is to understand for those who are of our opinion. We've all got to pick our poisons, and these have been ours, but let's not trample those who choose to swig their own. ;)

I think "SPECTRE" comes out as a much better film if you compare them with the ones I just mentioned....
I found "Age Of Ultron" a dull Michael Bay-esque, overcrowded popcorn flick, of which the popcorn was burnt.
With that same theme I found "Ex-Machina" the true stand-out, and unreservedly it flopped. "SPECTRE" for me however works much better than "Avengers 2", simply because it isn't such a CGI special Effects porn movie. "SPECTRE" is much more delicate when compared to that pompous trainwreck that can't become a financial trainwreck because it uses the Marvel-tag.
